Yesterday saw the start of the testing of the new FASTPASS+ system at the Magic Kingdom. Over the course of the last month or so, Disney have installed blue posts in front of many of the major attractions around the Magic Kingdom featuring a Mickey Mouse icon. These posts are being used as a temporary scanning area to read RFID equipped FASTPASS+ cards. Various reports coming out of the Magic Kingdom, say that when Guests arrive at the ride for their reserved time, they scan their card using the a sensor, which sends their reservation information to a nearby to a Cast Members iPad which shows the Cast Member the guest’s name, any special events the party may be celebrating, and if the guest’s return window is valid. The Guest goes through the FASTPASS+ entrance as usual and scans the card again, where another Cast Member verifies that it is valid and the Guest continues on to board the ride.
