Well it feels like it's been ages in planning but it's finally here!

On Wednesday we'll be heading over to the Radisson at Manchester Airport, settle in and then try Thomas Cook sundown checkin for the first time. Hoping that once done, we can go back, relax, and watch the planes fly whilst having some evening nibbles.

Virgin were just awful in Upper class for us last time and although we've been more than compensated, at the time I wasn't sure I wanted to book with them again so we're trying the new thomas cook premium service. It's a new service started may 1st and reports so far are quite good.

    http://www.thomascookairlines.com/PremiumCabin.aspx

Fly out on Thursday morning, pick up our car and head to a rather special villa which by now feels like a second home  Of course, publix on the way for some chicken  and some subs

Thursday evening we'll head to EPCOT to pick up our annual passes and then a quickish bite to eat at Monsieur Paul before stumbling out to catch illuminations, hopefully with a glass of something bubbly in hand

As usual, nothing has been packed, TONS of stuff at work to do and generally about as unprepared as a person could be.

Ooh I'd love to hear how you find Thomas Cook, quite fancy a change from Virgin PE. Gosh you're going to have a busy day, I'm always totally shattered by the time I get to the hotel and check in.

yeah interested to try thomas cook I must admit. They fly into MCO the same as virgin which is another plus point.

In terms of a busy arrival day, I've tried just chilling at the villa on the first night but I just can't, far too restless, so I prefer to go out and party till I really am too tired

Hope all goes well with your flight. I had on my calendar that you were coming over on the 15th. Is this a proper holiday, or is this the Microsoft convention?

So Im typing from the Radisson Blu at Manchester airport :)

Rather than drive to the airport early, the flight leaves at 10:15 tomorrow, we thought we'd book at night at the hotel. The Radisson is linked to T1//2/3 by a walkway so it's easy to go and do checkin although the walkway is a good ten mins with heavy luggage, not quite as close as I hoped, but still very doable.

We arrived about 4pm and went up to the 9th floor where the business suites are. The room is very nice indeed. Modern, neat, clean with a proper nespresso machine and all the usual bits and pieces. The business lounge comes free with business class rooms (£49 extra to upgrade to business apparently) and they have nibbles as well as complimentary wine, spirits and soft drinks all whilst you have a great view out over the runways.

We went across to do thomas cook sundown checkin about 6pm. A very sleepy looking guy was there and he just about managed to check us in before looking like he was going back to sleep. We took our cases to a security screening area and hopefully thats the last we see of them until Orlando! We should be able to go straight through security tomorrow.

We then came back and went to the restaurant for some dinner. It's pricey as it would be for a captive audience but was better than expected! Very nice steak and peppercorn sauce, lovely dessert etc.

Back in the room now and trying to sleep. Up pretty early for an inclusive buffet breakfast and then across to T1 for a hopefuly on time flight to Orlando wooohooo!

we've booked dollar via usrentacar after a few years of alamo. Last time we tried dollar, their cars were a little worn with more miles on them than usual. Clearly they were sweating their fleet a little more than usual but heck, we didnt have a problem and Im hoping we won't have this time around either! Sure, it's nice to have a brand new rental car but really, for 2 weeks, it's not a big deal. we'll see!

So next phase... Thomas Cook's new A330 Premium service with James Martin inspired meals and new entertainments etc. Let's see how it compares to Virgin! I'll let you know

    night all

Pleased you are fine with the Radisson Blu. We stay here every time we leave from Manchester and it suits us fine.
We also go for Dollar through USRentacar and last visit the car only had 400 miles on it so fingers crossed for you. You now also get to choose your own car from the category you book

    Have a brilliant flight

You'll be there now and hope you had a safe journey and managed to last to see Illuminations. You must tell us about the seats on the Dreamliner, I'm dying to find out about them. Have a fantastic time and try to send trip reports whenever you can.

Ooh... Can't wait to hear about your journey and arrival day!

I think you're a bad influence on me Keith - I always used to just crash on the first night, but now I find myself wired from the excitement of being back in Orlando... I may start venturing out on the first night, like you do!

    Have a wonderful trip!
