Skywatcher told me over and over not to compromise or go for a low priced telescope. I took his advice and waited, saved up and finally saw the ideal unit. Now I shouldn't really be showing you it, it even says on the box it can be used for "top secret spy science" but anyway, here it is. So, Skywatcher, which planets and nebulae should I be looking out for tonight? :wiggle:

Does the little red present sticker mean it was 3 for 2? What else did you get?

I was in Smiths on Sunday and all their Science Museum was reduced to silly prices to clear. I got a plant a tree kit for £2 as they were all out of telescopes.

Now I need to wait for the trees to grow so I can climb them and get closer to the stars.

I have been personally assured many many times over the years that it doesn't, much like Father Christmas and the tooth fairy, all I can say is, I choose to believe

At least the lens looks correctly made on mine :D

You're all meanies and you will rue the day you made fun of my huge scope (oooerr). You'll all be telling tales of the day I whipped it out to show you when I'm on the BBC! (although possibly crime watch rather than sky at night )

ps. apologies for the innuendo but as you know, there's a standing rule that any and all Skywatcher threads should descend into chaos

I was hoping you could prescribe something?

It's apparently Supernova Remnant E0102 and is January's pinup in the Views from Hubble Calendar :)

You see Mr Skywatcher, you really have got everyone totally fascinated  I bet the astronomy industry is the only one making a profit this year!

Yes the give away was the star spikes - you only get those on a reflector as they are an artefact of the thin supports for the secondary mirror - yours is clearly a refractor and as such would not have spikes - you nearly had me fooled
