Although I`ve been to Mount Dora several times, I never knew about the Mount Dora Museum of Speed which is located there.
I visited the place with my friend from LA on our recent trip and although it is quite small, it is crammed with some fabulous cars and memorabilia....there`s even a display of autographed guitars on one wall including one signed by a certain Mr Clapton. :guitar:

At the time of our visit, Doug and I were the only visitors and the owner and his wife spent ages with us explaining all about the collection.
Well worth a visit if you fancy trying something different.

That sounds like just the reason I need to get over there!

I've been meaning to go for the last four trips but never managed to make the trip.

Not sure if you were ever into rails, Slowhand or Tony, but in Ocala there is the "Big Daddy Don Garlitz" museum. You might like that too, and it's super easy to get to. Not much more than an hour north on the turnpike.

Ooh, thanks for that, Tink. Does sound interesting.

I saw him ages ago when they actually ran the rails side by side. Cha Cha Muldowney was running then too, and TV Tommy Ivo... whew. That's going back! Those things were so loud and forceful they made your chest shake if you were sitting in the front seats along the track!
