Well, my friend Mike who is the Barkeep at BLT, says it's not worthing going to any longer. I know that's harsh, but he's truly Mr. Disney. He loves everything about Disney. He's won award after award for his service. He's worked there for years and years. And he won't recommend it. :sorry:

yeah, was afraid of that :( thanks Tink! useful info

I'll probably give it one more try for the view, but it's a shame as we used to go twice during every vacation

We have been twice in the last year and a half. We had excellent meals and service both times. I recommend spacing out your meal so that it does get delivered too quickly.

you know USC, thanks for mentioning the spacing out thing. We NEVER remember to do that and it does affect our experience negatively. I must remember that.

What did you have to eat last time? any recommendations?

do you just say when you first meet your server that you'd like a gap between each course?

We normally let the server know that we'd like to enjoy our appetizer first and then we'll order.

We are scheduled twice for our upcoming trip. Mr Deb loves the view here, as do I of course, but last time the service was poor and pushy (3 years ago). I think I will cancel our booking that is earlier in the holiday, and keep the one that coincides with Wishes. Now to decide where to eat on the cancelled evening....

They were outright rude to us last time, from the podium through the service :( sigh, I LOVE The view and I USED to love the feel.

I just have to give them another chance

That's such a shame when CM's are rude. We had an absolutely superb waitress when we went last year. She was so helpful and talked us through all the different courses, even giving me a recipe for one of the sides (can't remember now what it was) and couldn't have been more helpful.

it was because we asked if we could wait for a table by the window :( very nicely, said we didnt mind how long we waited... and she kept cutting me off and saying it wont be till after the fireworks. I kept saying thats totally fine, I'm fine with that, I just want the view whilst I have the meal.

We got up there and there were at least 10 or 11 tables by the window free. They put us round the other side of the restaurant. So I, very nicely, explained that I'd like one of the 10 or 11 tables by the window.

(why do restaurants do that? Are they expecting 10 or 11 better looking/richer/presidential/famous people to turn up?? )

There is no excuse for that when they have lots of open tables. If she is working the night you go, ask for Jenny. Unfortunately though, when we've had her she was on the far side of the restaurant. Also, if you are at the bar, Mo is a riot.

We always ask for the meal to be spread out and it always has. We always ask for a view table when we know it's a good one too, Sanaa is a good example of this. We've always had this honoured, with no issues. Shame to hear about your bad experience :-(

Perhaps, if you have problems again, Keith (or anyone visiting soon) you could ask to speak with this person. He is the lead manager for the California Grill. I can't imagine he'd be too happy to learn that people were being treated poorly.

Andres is the restaurant manager. My friend that is providing this info says Andres will be absolutely happy to be sure you get treated properly.

Well, it's not secret that this has become one of Jon and I's favorite place in the last 2 years. We've only been twice, mind you, so I don't if we've just gotten lucky or if we just don't know any better, but we have had (in our opinion) great experiences both times. I posted reviews of both visits, I'll see if I can find them again and link them here.
