Who here has split their stay between resorts?

Was it challenging? Did you find it time consuming? Was it more trouble than it was worth? What did you do with your luggage?

Did you go from lower level to upper level or vice versa?

What else do I need to know?

We have split a stay! We went from WL to POR. I had a rental car so that's how we carried outer luggage.

Disney will transport your luggage for you but I have never actually used that.

Ooohhhhh we are looking into going back to Florida again next year

We are unsure if we will do the cruise again. We will see how this year cruise pan out first.

I'm quite interested to know more about staying in two resort.

We did POFQ last year and Disney broke a suitcase:shrug1: tbh I would probably not do again because you are in limbo the changeover day, I like to have somewhere to go back to when I want to

We always spilt our stay, I love being able to stay in different resorts, in fact our last trip we stayed I-Drive, Cruise, OKW.

It's very easy to do on Disney property as bell services will transport your luggage free of charge. You go off enjoy your day, show up at next resort and hey presto your luggage is there :)

We've split our stay a couple of different times. Always lower to higher. Although we have a car we let Disney handle the luggage and we've never had a problem.

We've done it loads of times, in fact, this is our first trip where we haven't done it. It's a piece of cake, drop your luggage at bell services and they'll take it to your new resort. We had a car last trip so we just took our own, but that was just so we didn't have to wait around.
We usually do the lower resort first, then go up. Best one was when we went from POFQ to the contemporary.

We've done it twice now with no problems. First was AKV - POR the next time was AKV - BWV. We have a lot of luggage so I make sure the second stay we have cases packed just for that part and don't really need to open he rest. Disney have always taken care of our luggage, we just use the changeover day to spend time at the new resort but if you want o go anywhere that's fine you just call bell services when you arrive back and they deliver your luggage to your room. I as worried it was going to be hassle but it really hasn't been for us and as we stay for quite a few nights its nice to make the most of two resorts :)

Done it twice last year, we were at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel and Spa (Downtown Disney) moved to Universal Studios On-Site resort the Royal Pacific Resort and on our wedding day I had the hotel transfer our bags to the Hard Rock Hotel free of charge (just a tip for the fella that collected/delivered our bags) and when we checked into the Hard Rock, they gave us our key, and within a few minutes our bags came up.

It wasn't too bad but I wouldn't stress too much as you can always check in early and leave your bags at the concierge if the room isn't ready.

But it's worth it to reconn out the hotels you may stay at in the near future. We decided the Royal Pacific Resort is our hotel. Loved it the last time, so we will return again.

We did a split stay once. It was one of our first visits to WDW (a surprise visit for Herself's birthday). I booked through a travel agent (shows you how long ago it was) and we couldn't get all our days at the Beach Club so we stayed there for most of the days, and finished up the last three at All Stars.

It went very well! We left everything to Disney and just went on our merry way on the day of transfer. I had been a little worried about the differences between the two resorts, but it wasn't a problem. Moving to All Stars from the Beach Club was simply a different perspective, a different vibe. It was two different kinds of fun!

I would say that splitting stays should encompass several days at each resort. Moving for an overnight would be more trouble than it's worth to me.

With check in at 4 and out at 11, a one night stay really doesn't encompass much more than the night.

You raise a very good point, and one I've been considering for several days. For us, the split would be 4/4 - 4 nights at Pop and 4 nights at Beach Club (switching over on the boys birthday). Do you think that's enough to get a proper "feel" for the resort?

I think that's a good amount of time. Just make sure you plan to hang out at the resort. We spent 2 nights there last Labor Day. It's awesome.

Yes, we will definitely want to spend a considerable amount of time at the resort, after all "I've waited my whole life for this!"
