    Hello,

We are doing twiight check in with VA on the night before of our flight. Should we also do online check in? What the point for online check in as we have not done this before...

With online check in you can 'check-in' 24 hours before the flight.

With twlight it's between 5pm-9pm (not 100% on times).

So in theory if you pre-booked your seats at 60 days out and you left your check in until twlight you could potentially lose your seat.

It depends how precious you are about a particular seat.

I know from reading another forum (I won't mention names) they are particularly funny if someone else 'nabs' 'their' seat, so will do the online and twlight check in.

Even checking in the night before doesn't guarantee a seat and they can still move you around if they need to, however it probably is unlikely.

In short if you're desperate for a particular seat you booked 60days out I would do both.

If not I think you'll be ok with just the twlight check in.

    Hope that helps :)

yeah I always felt better when I'd checked in feeling that my seat was a little more booked than if I'd just pre-selected it but tbh it just makes no difference :( you pre-book your seat and if virgin want to move you to fit in a family or for other "operational" reasons they just will. Even if you've checked in, it's no more hassle for them because either way, they're printing you a boarding pass when you get to the desk anyway.

I've even had it change between the checkin desk *on the day* and the flight. That was fun, they did an annoucement at the gate saying can one person from each party go all the way back to the checkin desk and re-checkin please. So someone from each had to go back, get a new seat allocation, back through security etc.

Sooooooo I wouldn't worry too much, just take it as it comes

We've gone for row 46 (row of 4). It's in the middle of the plane. No one behind us so we can recline and is not near the toilets so won't have people queing behind us.

If we don't get it then so be it as long as we're together.

We will probably check in at 1 on the Friday before and then twlight check in on the evening to be sure.

I'm so cannot wait and ready. I have to be honest I'm tad bit worried about people's comment that magic is not there etc so will see!

Don't worry Jeff, I've been going for about 10/12 years (although my first trip was probably before you were born!) and for me the magic is still there. I still get those butterflies in my stomach starting from when I check in (I always do both on-line and twilight) and they don't stop till I'm on my way home and then (OMG don't speak to me for a couple of days). You go and embrace everything you do and see, there's nowhere like it.

    yeah I agree

I think when you've been going for so many years, there are bound to be changes we don't like but overall, it must have something special or we wouldn't keep going back? ;-)

The magic is still there Jeff :hug2: it's just that some of us are slightly blinkered at times because we want to live in the past and for things to be as they used to be. It has changed a lot over the years and it feels like it's not necessarily for the best at times.

We go once a year, with the exception of this year and I do wonder sometimes if we should alternate it with somewhere else, maybe we would appreciate it more.

When was the last time you went?

I don't think the magic has gone. Not at all (not at least in 2012).

I still get that same feeling I always get when going into the Magic Kingdom.

I also like to moan ;)

It's not the magic that is disappearing as far as I'm concerned. It is just that Donna and I are hoping to retire in the not too far distant future and we're really worried it will become totally un-affordable to us.

I think your concern branches out to everyone.

As I've said before I am closed to being priced out. And I think the only way we will afford it next time is to stay offsite rather than onsite.

Even then it'll be a push with the price of parking these days (among other things).

The cost issue needs to be sorted for both locals and people travel distances.

It won't be long until flights to Orlando hit the £1000 per person mark for those traveling from UK to MCO. And yes that's not Disney's fault they don't make it easier by increasing ticket prices year on year.

we have never , ever ended up in the seat we have 'pre-booked' with virgin on any flight we have ever been on with them apart from the one to Dubai. it makes a mockery of prebooking - no idea why virgin can't honour it if every other airline does. We checked in a little late on our 'honeymoon' trip and we weren't even sat together !
