We always used to stay onsite without a car. Plane -> disney hotel for two weeks then plane home. We've stayed at pretty much every resort other than the boardwalk (which I'd love to try).

I never really fancied staying offsite at a villa until everyone on here convinced me to try it. I thought I'd miss the magic of onsite, the simplicity of getting to parks from a bus outside the hotel etc.

Of course, first time we tried a lovely villa and a car, we were utterly hooked! No one banging on the door at 9am ROOM SERVICE argrhgrghrhg go AWAY! no waiting for buses which didn't arrive. Proper TV service, nicely working internet, own pool, several rooms where we can get away from each other (so dead if DW reads this).... but wow, it's a different holiday!

...and that's my question really. It IS a different holiday and I know some people do a few nights at Disney in their favourite hotel to get that Disney feeling.

Does anyone do this and where do you stay? do you prefer to do your onsite stay at the start of your trip, middle or end ?

I've often booked the contemporary with a magic kingdom view for a few nights but it's got amazingly expensive just for a view that I only enjoy on probably one evening when we don't go out. I'm SORTA tempted to try the boardwalk as we've never stayed there. hmmmmm

If I were to do it, I would start out with the Disney resort, then move to the villa and relax. :D

If you've never stayed at the Boardwalk Inn, then you should do it. Just don't say I didn't warn you about that scary clown. :mental:

Im not going anywhere near the clown, but where people have complained about the noise, I'd LOVE to sit up all night watching the boardwalk  I'm very tempted

Then do it! You'll not be up all night, that's for sure. :D It's busy and noisy from about 7-11 pm where it starts to quiet down? As long as you are not on top of Jelly Rolls, you'll be fine.

I'm SORTA tempted by a 4/5 night stay... kinda.... perhaps boardwalk. I did love POR/POFQ though I must admit.

Then again, the Grand Floridian could be nice
