A little news about the renovation of the Polynesian Resort has been announced today by Walt Disney World Resort President George A. Kalogridis.

The Polynesian Resort will revert to it's original name of the Polynesian Village Resort which is the original name of the Resort when it opened in 1971.

An artist's impression of what the new reception lobby will look like has been revealed, looking at the picture, the lobby will be completely different and very inviting once all the renovation works are completed.

The renovation also includes a new food and beverage experience opening for Guests next year, Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto will be based on the popular themed lounge at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim.

Disappointed that there will no longer be a water feature. That really set the Polynesian's lobby apart from any other. I am happy they are reverting back to their original name and the addition of Trader Sam's. I've heard great things about it.

I thought that to, it set the Poly apart from other Resorts.

Trader Sams is very popular in Disneyland and I'm sure it will be just as popular at Disney World.

Pah! It'll always be 'the Poly' to me.

...Now, I'm off to MGM Studios.

It's always been "The Poly", it's just now a Village again.

Well. It does look as though it will still have a water feature - albeit a small one and not nearly as grand. I'm trying quite hard to reserve judgement, but some changes just feel more difficult than others...

I'll reserve judgment until I see it.
