I could never afford the full price for Premium on Virgin especially as it's changed since I last used it in 2006.

So I thought i'd send a quick email to Disney (holiday booked through disney so can't go direct to virgin) to see what kind of price they're offering to upgrade.

This morning i got an email to say it was fully booked and to try on the day of the flight.

Does this mean that it is fully booked or just the allocation given to Disney is booked?

I probably can't justify the costs anyway but given that it's after school holidays I assumed that this flight would be less busy. how rong I seem to be lol

it could be either :/ there aren't THAT many PE seats v Economy and they often do deals for upgrades etc which mean that yeah, they can easily book up. Of course, if it's fully booked there won't be any deals on the day of travel but if it's just Disney's allocation and there are empty spaces then on the day of travel at the airport will be your best chance to get a best price upgrade.

Sadly, whereas they used to practically give away upgrades if they hadn't all been sold on the day, nowadays the prices are rarely "WOW" unless they've got problems like combining two planeloads into one and needing all the economy seats they can (in which case they'll be begging people to upgrade because if they can't get enough people to pay, they'll be upgrading people free before long)

To be honest though, PE really has fallen behind the other airlines IMHO and although yeah you get a bit more space, it's really not worth what they're charging

In 2006 we went upstairs in the bubble. There were two chairs either side of a wide isle.

Now it's 3 and 3 from the photos i've seen.

I wouldn't pay alot at all but I thought it worth checking as I may get lucky.

It's not the end of the world just wondered how it worked given that I booked through disney and not virgin.

We flew PE once, and although it was nice, I wouldn't do it again. It just cost too much for what you got.

Space, more contact time with staff, cow shed product in the bathroom :) welcome drink when boarded. I know it small thing but it nice and kick off the sense of 'travelling in style' feeling. Plane salt and peppers :)

I love baileys after dinner :)

If you are flying from Gatwick then in September they take a plane off for some reason so there is only one flight a day.

It could be that PE is full because if that. I think it's more likely that Disney don't have any allocation left. One way to find out is go on virgin Atlantic's site and put in your dates for PE seats and see what comes up. If it shows availability then there is a chance of upgrade at the airport :)

I wouldn't go up in the bubble though. It's been ruined since they put economy up there as well :(

yeah you're probably right, pinched sounds better. Pretty sure I still have mine.... I'm such a total idiot that I took them, worried about it for an hour and asked if they wanted them back  they laughed at me and said nah, it's brilliant marketing for us, we expect them to go missing ;-)
