Long drive to work today, I passed the time listening to various podcasts from around "The World". I overheard two interesting rumors that I thought I'd pass along...one quite sad (at least to me), and one quite exciting.
    • It seems there's a rumor going 'round that they will be removing the water gardens from inside the Polynesian Resort. Quite sad to hear this, if it's true - it's one of my favorite places to take photographs and really adds to the "ambiance".
    • Looks like we may be seeing a Summer 2014 Room Rate Offer this week - opening first to Disney Visa holders and then a few days later to the general public. With this offer, guests can save up to 35% off the normal rack rate at select Disney resorts on room-only reservations for stays from June 15, 2014 through August 28, 2014. Guests staying up to 5 nights can save up to 30%, while guests staying 6 nights or longer can save up to 35%. Looks like the offer will exclude the Villas at Grand Floridian, Art of Animation Resort Little Mermaid Rooms, campsites and 3-bedroom villas.
PLEASE NOTE: BOTH ITEMS ARE RUMORS, AND SHOULD BE REGARDED AS SUCH :)

I heard this one from a CM at the polynesian about 6 months ago ... I don't know if that adds any weight to it since CMs often don't know anything either but yeah, definitely one doing the rounds. She was saying it was all to do with keeping it clean and not tired looking. The whole lobby would be getting redone.

Definitely all for keeping things fresh, but I really do enjoy the water gardens...I wonder what they would replace it with?

The group talking to the CM said, come on it'll just be a new even bigger water feature wont it, and she shook her head and said that's not what we're hearing because of the problems keeping the water feature nice.

Don't know! That entrance is SO iconic :/ hard to imagine anything better

The rumors regarding the Polynesian are true. The center fountain is going to be removed all together. They are supposed to be opening up the Great Ceremonial House so that you can see straight through to the pool and lagoon. The Volcano pool is also being redone again. Disney has not been pleased with the current renovation of the pool. Captain Cooks is going to be closing for a few months and relocating temporarily either somewhere else in the GCH or over by Neverland. In their temporary location they WILL NOT be serving Dole Whip.

We will be at the Poly on Friday and plan to take a bunch of pictures of the DVC construction and of the GCH if they have started anything yet.

If anyone is interested in owning any Polynesian room items from the Rapa Nui building there is an e-mail to contact. Let me know if interested and I can post here or send in a PM.
