Hi all, this is my first post so hello to all you Disney fans out there.
We're off to Disney end of September, staying at POFQ for two weeks.
There's 3 of us going, me (45) DH (49) and DS (12). We've been offered a free upgrade to Old Key West or Saratoga Springs with the chance of a 1 br apartment if we're quick enough, (first come first served). This will be our 4th trip to Disney in the last 5 yrs, twice offsite in villas and once to Pop Century. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
    Happy Holidays.
    Lesley.

I think if the upgrade is being offered for free, then go for it!

    Totally agree with that.

OKW is our home resort [we`ve been DVC members since 1992], and it is a really nice place to stay.
It seems so calm and peaceful and yet you are still really close to the magic of WDW.
As Johnie said if it`s a free upgrade then I`d certainly go for it.

Are they offering free housekeeping with the deal?
If not, just remember that you will have to make your own beds etc. each day as OKW is ostensibly a self catering DVC resort.
However they do a "trash and tidy" service though every few days or so.

Also, I dunno if you have ever visited OKW, but don`t go expecting it to be a stand alone villa.
I suspect that you have been offered a 1 bedroom apartment which be in a building along with other accommodations....just something to bear in mind.

Thanks to those who took the time to reply to my question. we've decided to go for OKW, in a 1 br apartment if we can get it. There was no mention of free house keeping but I'm sure we'll manage. I do understand that these are apartments not stand alone.
    Thanks again.
    Lesley.

Have you seen the upgraded rooms? They look even nicer, really looking forward to are 1 bedroom next august. The addition of the single sleeper seat has made it really good with a 12 yr old girl and 17 yr old boy. I stays there a few years ago and it was nice enough then. I like the tranquility of it all yet you are still on Disney property. They will give you dishwasher powder and washing powder every day you need it, small thing but it always annoys me when you have to buy a whole box just for a weeks holiday.

I believe free house keeping is for all that book and pay ie not DVC.

Good deal on the free upgrade! OKW or SSR are both in the same general area as POFQ so there's no real downside to doing this!
I believe with the upgrade situation you are entitled to the daily housekeeping as you are staying as a WDW guest not a DVC guest.

Just make sure you do take a trip to POFQ to get some bengiets!! :)

OKW is our home resort too! Welcome!

It's a lovely, laid back resort. The grounds are beautiful and the villas are the largest in the vacation club resorts.

SSR is nice too, but OKW is our favorite.

    You'll have a wonderful time!

    Hello there, Lesley.

    It's definitely worth upgrading.

We stayed in a 1-bed villa (apartment) last year and it was excellent. If your booking is through a travel company then you should get the housekeeping. Ours were brilliant, they even loaded all our breakfast dishes into the dishwasher for us.

I got the same call from Disney, we're going on 16th Sept, and we've also decided to go with the upgrade to OKW, getting even more excited about our trip now.

    Hi all.

Thanks to every body that has replied to my post.

I've just received an email from WDTC, we've got our upgrade.

We've also got the 1 bedroom apartment we wanted.

Can't wait, only 81 days to go. ( I must sort out a countdown banner.)

    Thanks again.

    Lesley.
