    Carpe Diem

    Carpe trip to Africa :mental:

Going in August - its just South of the Equator so we can say we have been to a new continent and a new hemisphere

Staying at the Voyager hotel - for all the Star Trek :geekon:

Safaris run close by, there is a Animal enclosure close by where you can feed Giraffe and Giant Tortoises ( sorry Josh) as well as a butterfly place. Hotel has its own reef :mental: glass bottom boats etc etc, Indian ocean, monkeys that come and sit on your balcony.

:mental: , I am going to have to buy a DSLR for no other reason than the birds and wildlife.

The site at Nyali has a few swahili words to learn including Hakuna Matata and Asante Sana,

We are going to live the Lion King

    Excited? Just a bit :D

Wow. Trips to Africa from the US are SOOOOOO expensive these days that we couldn't even begin to consider it. I hope you have a great time. This is my dream (come on lottery.)

We are going with First Choice - much cheaper than the Virgin holidays, same hotel

John, this will work out cheaper than our Disney Stay by some way, and we are having the Premium seats which are way way cheaper than Virgin.

9 Hour flight, but what an adventure it promises to be.

I feel a thread in gadgets and gizmos coming on I have to admit, more specifically on lenses - have to make use of my 2 canon lenses I have.

OOoo they use British 3 pin plugs

Visa has to be pain in US dollars - bit odd

Can take stuff to a local orphanage

This is probably going to be a dream come true

Oh ;) and I will see the Southern constellations for the first time as well - maybe if I forgo clothes I can take my scope

That`s great news Chris, you will have a ball.
Whichever camera you choose though, make sure to get an air tight bag to contain the camera when you are travelling to the game reserves.
The roads are very dusty and with the dust being so fine it really caked my camera even though I put it in it`s case inside a zip up camera bag!

Fair point Dawn but we did have a few other things going on  and yes there will be injections and malaria meds but this will be worth it. Excited about all the small wildlife not just the big game.
