The Sorcerer’s Hat at Hollywood Studios is coming down slowly and as this photo, that was taken by Kenny the Pirate, shows.

It's quite sad to see it like this :sigh:

On the bright side, the rumours all suggest it's being repositioned somewhere else in WDW, so you should still be able to see it.

I must admit, I like the little peek of the roof of the Great Movie Ride just over the hat!

I liked the hat too, to me there is no longer going to be a focal point at HS :(

The theatre will be the focal point, it was the first thing I saw when we went to MGM as it was then for the first time.

You will soon get used to the new view

I'm glad to hear they are considering placing it elsewhere in the park - but I'm equally glad to see it moved from its current location. Does seem a bit forlorn in the photo, though.

I'm now curious as to where else they may place it.

Gutted that the hat has gone. Apart from the castle it's always symbolised being at WDW for me. Serious sad face!

According to one Len Testa, the reason it's going is not related to the new TCM deal to renovate The Great Movie Ride. Rather, it's rumoured to be because the hat would have been visible from the Echo Lake area, which is being repurposed as the new Star Wars Land.

Apparently, the Great Movie Ride isn't even going to be the park's weenie - the Tower of Terror will have that honour.

Hhmm, that's interesting and I guess it would make perfect sense but surely ToT will be seen as well  although I guess it's further away.

You know, I originally typed 'icon', then changed it in anticipation of the ensuing entertainment... You didn't disappoint! :)

I guess I can understand Clarkkent's point of view but disagree with it, most likely for the same reason. I guess it is iconic as it was there the first time his impressions of the park were formed, for me it wasn't there and always looked added on to me. So I guess I would like to see it somewhere else rather than in front of the theater.

I've been both before the hat was there and since it was there. I'm looking forward to seeing it without the hat again before I make a decision.
