We have never been, we have thought about it but never actually got there.

What is it about, is the food good, is there any audience participation and can you choose not to take part?

I Luuuurve the hoop dee doo :) it's funny, silly and entertaining all at the same time. I always fall into the problem of promoting it SO much that people are then disappointed when they get there. I mean it's not going to change anyone's life but it's a great diversion from real life and probably the best meal at an Orlando dinner show.

I'll let others contribute before I gush :)

There IS some audience participation but not much and MOST of it is easily avoided.

I love it Wendy and I hate audience participation! You can definitely avoid it there, just dont tell them you are celebrating anything! I won't go in the laugh floor for fear of being put on the screen and I hate those cameras at the big stadium shows at places like Seaworld! Lol
It's fast paced and I think the food is pretty good. The players are great fun and there is always a certain amount of ad libbing so I never get fed up with the show. I have been for the last three trips and wouldn't miss it!

We love it also. And we're not big on participation either.

    But... :D

One time we were there seated in the upstairs area. As the show started, the lights went down in the theater and we turned around and leaned on the railing to get a better view.

Suddenly, I felt an arm slung over my shoulders, a big spotlight snapped on, and the lovely lady cast member attached to said arm shoves a microphone in my face and kinda hollers, "where you from big guy". She had snuck up on me. I had no idea she was even there!

    I about fainted. :thud:

Tom ( :macwave:... but it was still fun!)

One of our favorites to take grandkids to see. Lots of great fun, good food, and corny jokes. John and I always try to sit close to the stage - and John has been "picked on" numerous times! And we love it! The time we took my brother David he was chosen to be the angel during the big show! It was great. I posted photos on here somewhere, I think.

I also have some bitter sweet memories of HDD... We had dinner there one night with a dear friend and her family and, as I recall, that trip was the last time I saw her before she passed... So when we go to HDD I always think of her and the way she laughed at the jokes. And it makes me smile.

We've been and I have to admit, we wouldn't go back. We didn't think the food was that good (not that we were expecting former), and I didn't really care for the entertainment. I think I may be in the minority though :-D

I think it's 50/50 Vikki. Tons of people go quiet when I rave about it and finally I get them to own up to hating it. It's a very silly show and the "atmosphere" is variable which can have a huge impact.

I've been to shows which were just dead and I've had cast members, who I know after so many years, whisper to me things like "omg! we're dieing up there!" and then I've had shows where the audience was so engaged, laughing so hard that the cast could hardly say a word without cracking up.

The thing is, I usually love that sort of thing but I just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll try again one day :)

Another fan of HDDR here :)

From the food (hot and plentiful and actually quite good IMO) to the entertainment (hokey, but in the best sort of way) we love this experience! And with all-you-care-to-eat ribs/fried chicken as well as all-you-care-to-drink beer wine and sangria as well as gratuity being included - it's a pretty good use of two dining credits if you're on the dining plan!

We have some great memories from HDDR, and since the closing of the Diamond Horseshoe Revue - it's where I go for a healthy dose of cheese :)

I love HDDR! It's lots of fun. Corny yes but fun. I took mom
to WDW last year and had oz planned a fancy dinner at YSH and mom seemed disappointed that I hadn't planned HDDR. Lol but I was able to get us in!

We have been to the show a few times although its been a while since we have last been there. I absolutely love the show itself ,the food was okay. It has gotten a bit pricey at almost 70 bucks a person. Maybe we will go again this August.

Thanks all, so it's ok for 2 people with no kids to go to.

We won't be going until 2015 but I'm thinking about doing other things than we normally do.

You get lots adults only parties there, you wouldn't be out of place at all! We usually go to the early or middle show purely because we stop at Chip and Dale's campfire sing along afterwards, but the later show may well have less kids :)

We have done the campfire/movie thing a few times. When my kids were younger they loved it. We once booked a horse and carriage ride after Hoop Dee Doo, it was really nice. We saw a deer and a rabbit and of course we named them Bambi and Thumper. If anyone decides to go to the campfire or a horse and carriage ride definitely bring insect repellent. It's a must while at the Wilderness campground.

We did the "sleigh" ride at Ft. Wilderness on Christmas Night 2011. Still one of my favorite memories of all time :) I love all the kitschy decorations around the campgrounds! We didn't take insect repellant, but we did take a bottle of wine...so either the bugs weren't biting that time of year, or we didn't care ;) I'll remember your suggestion should we ever book the carriage ride!

We were there once and will never go back. Food was okay, but too corny for us.
