Do you know that I have never actually watched The Little Mermaid? I was a senior in high school when it came out. That's my only excuse.

That was one of Alex's favorites as well. When you asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up she would say either a ballerina or a mermaid (Ariel)/

I absolutely believe my affinity for this movie is a direct result of my daughter. I have so many cherished moments (recent even) of watching this movie and sharing in her joy and love of it.

I have the best memories of laying on the sofa with Alex in the afternoons after I got home from teaching. She would ask to see both B & B or LM over and over. It was funny. She would hide her head in my arms when Belle was going to the West Wing and was going to be yelled at by the Beast. She also cowered when the scarey Ursula would menace Ariel. Every day the same thing. She would ask to see it and then hide her eyes as we lay on the sofa

There are 3 Disney movies that I adore solely because of Alysia: Beauty and the Beast, Alladin and the Lion King.

She loves the beast and would curl up under my arm and say "oohhhhh the beast!" All admin we watched on VHS over and over and over. The Lion King we went to the movies when she was 3 to see it. 3. And she'll be 23 next month.

Of course there are other movies we share a love of but those 3 strike the closest. Though Toy Story has followed her life pretty closely too.

Toy Story is a breath away from Little Mermaid for me...due to the close connection I have with it in regards to my "Andy" - but LM wins out...at least today :)

The very first one that popped into my mind was Aladdin. It's hard to not say Pinocchio though. Or Dumbo. :sigh:

I'm SO useless at picking one "best," or "favorite." So much depends upon the mood of the moment, or the myriad of different aspects of each movie.
