Yes, we ate there last November. It is now our favourite. The service was amazing. Good variety of food, well presented and delicious. Be sure to have a dessert. :)

Can't help, I won't try it. Pete loves it. This was Pete's meal. I had grilled salmon.

I like fish, it's just the thought of eating raw fish. When I said does it taste of fish I meant a strong flavour and is it chewy

I don't eat it either. I hate the taste of fish. However, Mr Deb does, and I usually try his. Most of it so far has been sort of like smoked salmon in texture, and most not fishy. Maybe more sort of shellfishy? But I still don't like it enough to have a full meal of it or order it over anything else - just doesn't interest me.

Not sure that educated assessment was any use

Wendy, sushi in general is cooked. It's a reference mostly to the rice. You could have a piece of sushi that featured cooked shrimp, for instance. Those featuring raw fish, are sashimi, and go by different names on the menu. It's a bit like biting through a thick, stiff jelly? There really is no fish taste, if it's done properly. Although, there will be mild differences in taste between the types of fish. It is cold though, and it's all about the texture. You have to be extremely careful too, with regard to where you get your sushi as parasites are unfortunately a risk when eating raw fish from dodgy sources.

I like saumon tartare, and a nice oyster on the half shell, but I have to absolutely know the source, and have to be in the mood.

Now, tempura is lovely, as is miso soups, udon soups and other choices similar to that. So, if you wanted to try a Japanese food experience, there is much more to select than raw fish. :D
