Shelly, you are crafty (I've seen your cakes!). I think you could recreate this costume pretty easily. The bottom is really just tulle.

Ahem I actually saw a grown up version on Pinterest that I was thinking if creating for myself for this upcoming Halloween. I can't believe I said that out loud l

That is amazing Shelly! To tell the truth I really don't like BBB, maybe if they did the hair different?
The pirate league was so much fun! For all the family I would say.

First off I *TOTALLY* think you should make one and wear it with pride!!
Second..umm..yea I can't imagine what that poor dress would come out looking like if I tried to do it! I would probably just end up wrapping the poor kid in tulle!

The hair does creep me out a little bit. I hate that it looks all plastic!

I got it!! I am going to be checking them out at nap time :D

If you go with tulle (that crinoline stuff!) be certain it is lined with a soft fabric. There is absolutely nothing more miserable than having that itchy, scratchy stuff against your skin in the heat of FL (even in November). I've seem too many little girls crying, red faced and miserable from costumes that are too hot and uncomfortable for the parks.

I think they are sweet all dressed up, just be sure that what the child is wearing is truly comfortable.

Same for the hair, which you've already commented on. That scalp tight bun is not pretty for anyone and is terrible for the hair. Katie has beautiful hair, and if it gets too hot for her a simple braid would help, yes?

She's going to have such a good time!

That is true! I will have to make sure we have something under it, or that it is lined to keep her from being itchy!

I can't imagine that "the bun" is good for their hair! It just grosses me out that it can stay in for 5 days!

We always brought a change of clothes along - either in the backpack or under her costume - because she *inevitably* grew tired of the costume (any costume) after a while.

Livvy had the Cinderella wedding dress and that was itchy, so she put her leggings on underneath, it was December though. She had the fairytale princess makeover as well and she looked adorable but it did take a while to wash it all out of her hair.

You don't have to leave the stuff in their hair for 5 days. TBH that is just gross. I cannot imagine not washing hair in the heat/humidity for that long. It does take a lot of effort to get all the gook out of the hair though. Alysia, Jordan and Dana did it when it was first offered.

I also think the bun (and I am *not* a bun person at all) looks a lot better than the horrible extensions.

Katie thought the extensions were gross! This coming from the girl who has done both the little colored feather in the hair and the little colored strip. She just was not into it at all! :shrug1:
