I am toying with an idea to upgrade to Upper Class from PE. (Don't have any air miles or anything like that)

This year is our ten years together as a couple and thought it would be nice treat but we already booked to fly on PE and we liked it previously.

Would you pay for an upgrade?

First of all, welcome stranger. And to answer your question. How much extra is it going to cost? Are you planning on a RT upgrade or just one way?

    Good to see you!

I can't say if it's *worth* it technically because in all honesty, there's a lot to be said for getting on there, sleeping, waking up at the other end and saving ALL the money.

However I will say this. Premium economy now isn't MUCH of an upgrade :/ I mean I still book it because anything is better than economy, BUT I feel a bit silly when I do because you get so little for the extra money.

Upper Class is a different matter altogether. Sure it's very expensive but at least the experience is completely different. MUCH more personalised and better service. Better food. Better seats, chance to sleep on lie flat beds etc etc.

In the final analysis, is it *worth* the extra? I'd find it very hard to say yes but it's like any luxury, you don't need it, but if you want it and can afford it for a special occasion, then why the heck not :)

They have offered us £1400 one way to upgrade to Upper Class and we would just fly back on PE. This would means using our plastic..... I do have dilemma as it is nicest way to arrive at Orlando especially having to cancelling our holiday twice(!)

*personally* I wouldn't spend credit card money on it. It would have to be spare cash lieing around that I'd just blow on other stuff for me to pay 1400 one way on it.

BUT hey, it's a special occasion and you want to treat yourself :)

Keith has summed things up perfectly.
We have flown UC on our previous 6 trips or so and now it would be one heck of a wrench to fly in any of the other cabins.
That said, the cost was borne by our FC miles. I doubt whether I would pay the extra [unless I had some spare cash lying around that is], however if you could only afford to do one leg, than I reckon that it would be best to return in UC so that at least you can get a good nights sleep in the bed on the journey.

We've been UC for the last 4 years now because it's more comfortable for me, I don't think we would be able to go any other way now.

It is certainly the best way to travel and it's a great experience, in my opinion,. We have always used miles to upgrade so it has only really cost us the price of an economy seat.

If you want to make this a special experience and you are happy to pay the extra to fly UC one way, then I'm with the others and I would say on the way home for the bed. The only problem is that you get more of an experience on the way over.

Not much help really am I  you've got a difficult decision to make Jeff.

I agree, a lot of money for a little time and I certainly wouldn't want to have to pay it off when I got home :)

In glad we didn't go for the upgrade! Stephen reminded me that we are flying to Istanbul next year for a conference where I'm hoping to present a paper so need to start saving!
