    That's me to a tee!

...Although notice I skipped past all the Premium stuff - I'm a pauper in cattle class.

There's virtually zero difference these days. A LITTLE more room in PE, but not much, smaller cabin which is handy but other than that it's a waste of money IMHO

Upper class IS at least a huge difference for the money/points etc.

I'd love to do a little smile here and think hehe I ALWAYS do UC but nah :( I've been lucky to be able to try it with saved miles.

Everyone's right though, it's definitely the way to travel the 9hrs and at least, unlike PE in my opinion, you can REALLY feel the difference.

My dad worked for BA and we used to get upgraded to Club all the time - I used to be able to talk my way into a Club seat pretty reliably until that pesky online check-in stuff came around. Since then, I've only ever managed a little upgrade to a PE bulkhead seat.

    Curse the internets.

yeah :( there was an about turn on how the airlines view the upgrades I think as well. In t'old days, they used to look and think well smart, will fit in fine, will free up an economy seat and may end up booking club/1st next time if we give them a taste. So many people must try asking these days that they seem to have a policy of just no unless very exceptional

Keith that description cracked me up! Too funny! And probably too true. It is kind of weird. I got of excited thinking about boarding a plane (for just about anywhere where it is warm now!).

I've got loads of miles saved up, must be enough to upgrade to business class, but every time I get to booking, I back out and collect the points instead - I'm an airline's dream!

Since I've had problems with my knees, I can only go if we fly UC, it is a wonderful experience and I have lost my fear of flying now as well.

Up until last year I have been using miles to upgrade from economy, but I ran out, hence part of the reason we aren't going this year :( There is no way I would pay to travel UC, well I couldn't afford it anyway

First time we went PE when the new seating came in (we always went upstairs right at the back before), we decided to go downstairs and booked the last seats at the back of the cabin. DS and my grandson had 2 seats on the left as you look into the cabin and DD, DDIL and myself sat in a row for 4 at the back. They were really good seats and we got off the plane before the UC. We're coming back this year PE and I've requested the back row of seats again. I much prefer going downstairs in PE now rather than upstairs.

Thank you. :) Following Keith's suggestion, I was thinking along those lines. Nice to have another opinion. :)
Of course, the difficult part is trying to get them...........

7:55am, 60 days out..... remember that you wont necessarily be able to book them until right after 8am and refreshing doesnt always work sometimes you need to go back to the page or make a change if you see what I mean. (I sat there at 8am last time refreshing, nothing... tried clicking on search for my flight again, went in and booked doh)

Those 2 back seats by the door are very sought after now its true but you can usually get them or a row or two forward without much trouble

from what I can remember, 19a/c recline because the door is a bit behind them but on the other side, the toilets are there so the last row is 18h/k and they have limited recline due to the wall of the toilet (they're also busier with people standing waiting to use the loo)
