We're considering a villa for our 2016 trip. We're having some time on site at Disney, so this will be for the Universal and Sea World area. A lot seem to be to the west as we'd like one to the north east.
Does anyone have any villa recommendations for this area?

There used to be a site which had a wonderful map showing all the community locations, but it was removed.

From memory, it showed that there were no communities much further north than the 192. There were some east of the i4 junction, but that was as near as it got. I think someone told me once that it was a zoning thing.

Now, I realise I have a bias here, so feel free to take this next bit with a pinch of salt, but I stayed in one of those villas on the East side of the 192 and didn't much care for the location. There was still a reasonable amount of shops and restaurants nearby but it felt like getting anywhere took forever! That's one of the reasons I eventually bought on the West side of 192.

Of course, that's just my opinion and I mean no offence to anyone who owns a villa over yonder, just stating my preference.

I think you would be better staying over the Disney side Vikki and then driving to Universal.

I would personally look for something off the 192. I don't like the communities off the 27. It's a horrible road and further out. I'm sure it's fine and there are some nice properties it's just my opinion.

The first choice area for being very close to Disney is the Formosa Gardens area which is where Tony has a place. Followed by Windsor Hills or something off Old Lake Wilson Road. Another popular area is Davenport, it's a bit if a further drive but you are only 5 mins drive to the I4.

There are lots if places to choose from just make sure you do your homework properly if it's not been recommended to you. Sadly there are a lot if places that are "not as they seem to be'

Oh and if it seems to good to be true then be careful. If you see anything then be sure to let us know, someone may know something to the area.

Think we're actually going to look at an off site suite instead now.

I've stopped off site a few times over the years. However never in a Villa. I always assumed they were for larger groups.

When/if I ever have a family I think we would stop in a villa. Like the idea of our own pool for the duration :)

I never even thought of staying in a villa. Couldn't really see why it would be better for us and would miss onsite SO much.

Well, after trying one we were COMPLETELY converted. First time in ages we just really didn't want to go back home

I would think a Villa is truly the way to go, while understanding that a bit of time onsite at WDW, or US/IOA would be nice if only for the perks that now go along with those sorts of reservations.

The area Wendy describes is the nicest area, in my opinion, realizing I've only ever visited in those areas, never actually stayed.

Not sure where the villas to rent are on 27, but some of that roadway (north of the 192 juncture) is not as bad as other areas (south of 192). It's still not a pretty area though (although it is essentially safe). If you get too far east on 192 (Kissimmee area) you do start running into questionable locations (as in terms of safety and who your neighbors may be).

Word of mouth referrals are usually the best, or at least a thorough search for written ones via a reliable website.

We've got a large luxury villa for four adults next year, am paying more to have the larger pool but we get a discount because the other bedrooms will be locked. So don't discount the larger executive villas with 10 bedrooms as you may get a discount but a gorgeous villa and pool :D

Plus they have thrown in pool heat and later check out for free! It hasn't cost much more for a smaller villa to be honest.

    10 bedrooms... I mean that's like a mansion LOL

I get the sense you're really trying to tell me you've got a spare room but don't want to be too forward. Let me save you the awkwardness. Yes, I'll be happy to come along :D
