Virgin Atlantic have just got approval from the CAA to allow them to turn on their In-flight entertainment system as soon as the safety demo is finished, so before take-off, and they will be able to leave it on during landing.

During taxi, take-off and landing, only headsets provided by Virgin Atlantic must be worn (crazy!), but once airbourne you will be able to use your own.

IFE used to be switched on 25 minutes or sometimes more after taking off, and had to be switched off 40 minutes before landing.

This should be good for nervous flyers

On BA they did this from the UK but not from the US which I thought was strange, maybe CAA approval will change this

Find it weird that you can't use your own headphones.
Im guessing that if you are in seats like the exit ones you wouldnt be able to use ife as the screens are stored in the seats.
