 good point Tony, but given the lack of space on board virgin, even PE, no one in there is a stranger for long

Could I ask a serious question?

Why does it really matter that much about getting certain seats? I'm happy as long as we are sat together. Am I missing something?

Well some folks are nervous flyers and prefer a window seat or a seat near a door etc. Other people prefer a seat by an aisle so they can stretch out.

Some like to get off the plane faster because they don't like waiting ages.

It's totally personal preference and as you say, some people don't care at all and others do :) Each to their own!

Ha ha I sat there last year - was good but not that great :)

I think virgin are losing their touch a little now and if I can't use my miles for our flights next time I will probably give ba a whirl.

With me, it's because I have claustrophobia. If I sat in the middle rows I would feel too shut in. :-/

do you book a year in advance or wait for the last minute? I've always booked mine a year in advance, however my in-laws tend to ask me to keep an eye on flight prices, but the best prices I've seen have always been around 10 months in advance. But they leave it last minute to book and end up paying more with a non direct flight.

I tend to book around Christmas/new year time for the next year. That's usually because we've just come back from holiday and with nothing planned it's a bit depressing + I have a bit of time over christmas, and SOMETIMES there are useful offers.

So I could be booking 5/6 months out for May and 11/12 months out for December.

Now, virgin atlantic is apparently moving to a system where we can book seats 336 (or something) days out so that's going to make me think about booking earlier so I can avoid being somewhere I don't want to be on the plane.

I'm sure someone has better ones that I do but basically, one "pod" each side of the plan (sometimes a couple in the centre). The pod is quite private and has enough room for the seat to turn into a bed or you can just stretch out anyway.

The food is much better, service definitely better.

Again, is it *worth* it, well I think it's truly expensive BUT it's the way all flights should be. Unlike economy to Premium where there's little difference, the step up to UC makes a huge difference

I've been upgraded a few times, done a couple with miles and last year when I was booking premium economy for this year, it was £500 more per person round trip to book UC which I thought was really good.

    That is a good price.

I do enjoy traveling in CW on BA. The last time I flew in WT / Economy was from Singapore back to LHR. There was a big sudden drop in altitude over Kuala Lumpur, I could see the skyscrapers in my window, and my gin and tonic floating mid air with the glass in my hand, stomach in my throat and then spurrlash as the aircraft regained altitude.

Well you can do that from any seat. Just ignore all the announcements about staying seated and run for the door as soon as the plane touches the tarmac. Have seen that one done. They weren't first off.

And I like to get off the plane last so I can walk down the aisle and go "tut" at all the mess people leave behind. :D

I like to get the same seats every time because they are just about perfect for us. If you sit too far back you are either separated by the bar or if people sit at the bar it can be noisy. Alternatively, I get too claustrophobic if I sit too far forward.

When we used to go PE we always tried for bulkhead seats in the bubble because there was more leg room for Chris.
