    two thoughts on this....

    1) its GREAT because I can hardly get a laptop + a nice camera in the 6kg limit
    2) I wonder if they'll start really weighing the carry ons and being strict about it

Fantastic news Keith. Woohoo!! Loads more space for my Ghirardelli chocolates and goodies from the malls. Since I usually buy loads of chocolate squares and tubs of their chocolate drops, it is a nightmare getting them home without having to put them in our suitcases.

At last Virgin are changing things in favour of their customers :D I can see a problem getting everything in the overhead lockers if everyone takes the maximum though

Oh and Keith if you want your own locker in December then don't reserve seats 8 or earlier as 7 and 6 don't have their own locker space, so people tend to try and bung everything into 8 or the cabin crew put it in the wardrobe.

 We always have 9 a and k, we like to sit opposite each other and they are far enough from the bar so that you aren't overly bothered if lots of people stand there.

    ooo ok thanks!

Interestingly from manchester at the moment the first flight at the moment is an a330 without UC and the later one is a 747 with.

In December we seem to be on the earlier flight but in UC so I dont know if they're going to swap them round or if the a330s will have uc by that point

I don't know that they are going to add UC to the a330s now they have refurbished the 747s, so if you are on the early flight it will stay that way, I should think. If you want to sit side by side then go for 9a and 10a as you will be able to see Kennedy Space Centre as you fly over. We did this once when coming home from Miami and we didn't like it as much.

There are some 330s with three cabins and I THINK they did say they would be getting some on the man-orl route but I'm not completely up to date with it.

Thing is at the moment the early flight is a 330 no uc you see ;-) so Im just wondering

You're right! I challenge anyone to get 23KG into that size bag though

 oddly enough, BA *used* to have a limit. Flying back from washington once, a very stupid, jobsworth lady on the BA desk made me put a hand luggage bag in the hold because it was slightly over but the checked in bags had already gone. Of course got to Manchester and everything had spilled out etc :( sigh

So it's good that they've changed the policy. 6KG from virgin has always been daft and it's a worry every time I fly with them that they may weigh the bag and moan because what do I do then? It's all valuable stuff in the bag, cameras, laptops and so on. not like I want to put ANY of it in the hold :/ and they dont even allow people to buy more weight on carry on (AFAIK)

So yeah, 10KG is a useful change

I'd love to see my 2 year old put her bag in the overhead bins herself ;)
