Now before Tink hyperventilates I'm talking about the airline.

I have to in a week or so's time book our flights on Virgin via Virgin Atlantic... my questions are:
Will they take my money plus miles? (cos I've never done this before and need talking through it) and will it be cheaper to fly drive or just fly... even though I probably don't want their particular care hire place?

I can book flights going in that week window so will they accept flights back for 21 days later during that 355 day window?

If they won't take the return booking should I wait until I can book the return flights for the outgoing flights? am nervous about doing this any help much appreciated.

Wendy's probably best able to tell you all the VA wrinkles. I thought I was "ok" at booking flights but Wendy really gets the ins and outs of the miles+money etc.

From my limited point of view, if you login with your flying club account you can see money plus miles flights but if you want to book more than one persons, you'll either need to login to each account to do it or phone them.

cheaper to fly normally, their car hire is USUALLY pricy but you do get miles with it. (sometimes you can find an offer on virgin holidays with a good priced fly drive though but not usually va)

I wouldnt have thought the 21 days later return flights would be loaded so I'd probably wait until they were

When we booked miles plus money we had to log into each account and book the flights separately. The most nerve wracking 10 minutes ever!

They're really good on the phone in my experience. Last time I had half miles in my account, half in DWs account and NEITHER had enough in them to do the upgrade so we had to buy some miles as well. The guy just worked it all out and made it happen. A LOT easier than stressing on the website

Everytime I see a thread with "Virgin" in the title I giggle.

Right let me think, you can use money plus miles for any flight and you can book this online.

You will have to wait until the date you want to fly home has been released before you try booking them. From experience, the miles plus money don't always become available on the day the actual return flight is released. Sometimes you are lucky and they are there but don't be sad if they aren't there.

When you book a flight with Virgin Atlantic you are only booking the flight, you can't book a fly drive. There are a number of places that you can look for cars and you can book these separately.

I don't know how many miles you have, but the miles plus money flights are not normally that much cheaper especially if you are flying in economy, there is hardly any discount at all.

I've always found the best way is to either use miles only for one flight, you just have to pay taxes or to book say an economy ticket and then use miles to upgrade to Premium Economy.

The only problem with miles is that you are normally stuck to certain dates and these don't always become available on the day you can book. It might be a week or so before they appear.

You will have to phone up to book upgrades, there used to be a way to check the prices of the seats to make sure you were getting the cheapest upgradeable rate, but Virgin have changed their site and I haven't worked out how to find the codes yet.

If you have anymore questions ask away and if I can help you I will :)

I'll never, ever understand why you do not own your own travel agency.

Glad to help Esme, as I said if you need any help just shout, but not to loud

I have thought about it Brit, but I've not looked into it properly, I wouldn't know where to start.

You could speak to Val Ramsay, she may be able to help. Think it's like a franchise thing- not sure of the details :)
