The Walt Disney Studios recently announced a number of release schedule updates: Saving Mr. Banks Saving Mr. Banks‘ (Disney) limited release date is 13th December 2013 and the previously announced 20th December 2013 wide release date is unchanged. Inspired by true events, Saving Mr. Banks is the extraordinary, untold story of how Disney’s classic Mary Poppins made it to the screen—and the testy relationship that Walt Disney had with author P.L. Travers that almost derailed it. Muppets Most Wanted Muppets Most Wanted (Disney) is the final title of the follow-up to 2011′s The Muppets. The previously announced 21st March 2014 wide release date is unchanged. Starring Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey, Disney’s Muppets Most Wanted takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour where they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper. Planes: Fire & Rescue Planes: Fire & Rescue (Disney) is now dated for wide release in 3D on the 18th July 2014. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (Disney), starring Steve Carell and Jennifer Garner, is now dated for wide release on 10th October 2014. Miguel Arteta will direct and 21 Laps and The Jim Henson Company have signed on to produce the film. Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, based on the award-winning children’s book by Judith Viorst, follows young Alexander through the mishaps of a terrible day for his family after he wishes they all would experience the same troubles he does. Tomorrowland Tomorrowland (Disney) will now be released on 12th December 2014. The film is being directed by Brad Bird and written and produced by Bird and Damon Lindelof. George Clooney, Hugh Laurie, Raffey Cassidy and Thomas Robinson have been tapped to star in the film. Into the Woods Into the Woods (Disney), dated for release on 25th December 2014, is based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim. The story follows a baker and his wife’s quest to break a witch’s curse in order to start a family. Along the way, the couple encounters several well-known fairy tale characters, and together they learn what happens after “happily ever after.” Rob Marshall will direct the film. Cinderella Helena Bonham Carter has been cast as the fairy godmother in Disney’s upcoming live-action feature Cinderella, directed by Sir Kenneth Branagh. The previously announced cast includes Cate Blanchett as the wicked stepmother, Lily James in the title role and Richard Madden as the prince. The Hundred-Foot Journey The Hundred-Foot Journey (DreamWorks), dated for release on the 8th August 2014, is based on the international best-selling book by Richard C. Morais and tells the story of an Indian boy living in France who becomes the culinary apprentice to his father’s rival. Lasse Hallstrom has signed on direct; Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Juliet Blake are producing the film. Upcoming Marvel Films 6th May 2016 and 5th May 2017 have been set as release dates for two untitled Marvel films.
