Oh well it's good to know it was nice here for at least part of the day. Daytona was horrible all day long.

The show itself hasn't changed much since they, thankfully, changed away from the stitch themed show. So it's always a turn brain off and just watch type of affair. Given that, it's a fun enough show to watch yeah :) It seems to go down well with kids especially when they get them all on stage and teach the hula.

The problem with the luau for me has always been the food. They changed it last year and in December we found they'd removed the really nice cake at the end and replaced it with some weird thing with nuts in it. Then last night they'd changed everything. The starter was mango-slaw, noodle salad and mixed greens. Anyone who knows me well will be giggling by now, there's no way I'd have any of that.

The main course changed to pulled pork (warm and tasteless), bbq pork ribs (warm-cold no meat), roasted chicken (warm-hot and reasonable), jasmine rice (cold, intentionally I suppose), vegetables.

Dessert changed from a lovely chocolate cake to... warm pineapple bread pudding with caramel sauce :/ a VERY boring dessert tasteless without the caramel sauce.

Add to which we had one of THOSE servers. Two kinds at luau, the ones who cant do enough for you and rush around v the ones who very deliberately make sure they do the minimum. The former kind are amazing and do such a great job, the latter have their ways of avoiding guests. Usually they'll avoid coming out of the back until they have to server a course at which point they'll be too busy to take drink orders and so on. So it goes from unlimited drinks to one refill if you're lucky enough to find your server. Last night's was one of the latter ones sadly.

Anyway, we weren't expecting great things food/service wise so weren't surprised :) and enjoyed the show

I must admit, after going to the Hoop de Do revue and hating it, we've not done a dinner show since. That starter actually sounds really nice though

yeah I admit I may be the only one who hates the selection for the starter, I'm completely fussy

I think the hoop dee doo is better as a show and better food wise too but then the luau is such a different kind of show I guess it would be possible to hate one and love the other.

Overall though, they're all in the classic dinner show format and you either like that or you don't ;-) poor food, corny show, kinda par for the Orlando dinner show. Definitely turn brain off and have a few glasses of wine time.

Keith, I didn't giggle too much

We've never done the Luau, I worry that it will be too tongue in cheek. We saw one in Hawaii which was really good and I guess I don't want to ruin the memory

Do you have separate tables or are you sat at long tables with other people

yeah its very disneyfied and I would imagine non-authentic. In fact the seaworld one felt more life like to me and that one closed :/

You're on your own table, unlike seaworld, which is great but the tables are very close to each other. Still it's separate enough such that you can talk to each other without feeling obliged to socialise ;-)

I remember being very pleased with the Sea World one. Was very sorry to hear it closed. Actually liked it better than the one we did in Hawaii! But the one we did there was a fake tourista thing that "some people who were with us" just HAD to do. We wanted to do the cultural center one, but the schlocky one was chosen instead.

All that to say, we've never done the Disney dinner shows at all.

We're with Wendy here. We've done several in Hawaii and are afraid we'll not care for it.
