would 5gb be enough for a photographic website? thanks
Well it totally depends on how many photos you're going to put up there. If you stick em in a folder and do "properties" on the folder, it'll tell you how much space you're using. You'll need the same amount + a TINY bit more for the actual HTML code for a web page
42 photos is 141mb - just over 1000mb per gb = 5000mb = 1489 photos? is that right- seems like a lot to me
if that is the case that is plenty
That's pretty much it yep 5GB is a lot of space especially if you size them for the web rather than sticking full size photos on there
exellent, thanks looks like i'm gonna be busy
ooooh sounds interesting
That sounds like definatley enough. Make sure you have a good quality watermark for them and put them on there at a low resolution. Not everyone does this and the results can be terrible.
Make sure you give us a link when you've finished it so we can see it
have you done it yet?
well i took 1900 pix in florida and the total size for just those pix were nearly 8gb
are you havin a giraffe? it will take me several weeks me thinks lol
Josh - why low resolution? surely i want as good a quality as poss to show them off?
yes. I am having a giraffe!
well at least i now know why my tummy's so large.....
you wouldn't want that diggin you in the ribs would you?
gawd no - ouch and double ouch!
If you post them really big then people will be able to steal them. If you post preview images make them smaller so that they will be of no use to anyone
oh ok thanks Josh
...and if its for your photography, Josh is more than 100% right
people will download them if they cant download them they'll screen grab them, anything to print them themselves
how wide is a banner on a website in cm please? I'm making my own
What program are you using to make it? It's hard to say in cm's to be honest. It also depends on how wide your layout is going to be. There isn't a set size, you just go with how wide your website's layout will be.
The secrets one is 980pixels X 170pixels.
Image manipulation software does give you the option to use cm's, but its best if you get an idea of pixels as that is what they are generally measured in
