I mean, given the price, it would have been downright rude not to!

It's dreadfully cold here today, and I'm in desperate need of some sun and relaxation (doctor's orders, actually!). So, as I was daydreaming around the internet, I ran across a Norwegian Cruise Line sale that just seemed almost too good to be true (it wasn't, I checked!) - 7 days, Oceanview room, UNLIMITED BEVERAGE PACKAGE INCLUDED - $339/person! (Show of hands from those who think NCL is going to lose money on Jon and I with this free drinks package?)

We cruise February 7 through 14 (the 12th is Jon's 39th birthday!) aboard the Norwegian Jewel with stops in Cozumel, Belize, and the Banana Coast (or, in our case, the spa deck, the spa deck, and the spa deck).

I'd actually like to leave now, please.

    :overhere:Ohhh I do I do!

May them suffer Becca! Serves them right!

How nice! DW and I are actually thinking that our next Disney trip will actually be a DCL trip! Have to get my brother and his family on board with that. May not work out as they are really excited to also go to Universal for the new Harry Potter stuff.

Cold here as well. Like the line from Jimmy Buffet's Boat Drinks song...I got to fly to St. Somewhere (actually Anywhere!).

We are seriously considering a DCL cruise for Jon's 40th. I just have to spend a bit more time convincing him that they really *are* even more amazing than the others. But I'm getting close

You are going to LOVE Norwegian!! It's one of our favorites. Not many little kids (not casting aspersions mind, just sayin') and generally geared toward adult comfort. The freestyle dining is our favorite thing. Their spas are great too! It's always something that we do (yes, even Herself will do a spa day on Norwegian) on any NCL that we are on. The Jewel. I don't think we've been on that one. No, we haven't. It's one Herself wanted to do when it was brand new, but we never got to it.

That's an awesome price, too! Their beverage packages are usually quite nice, so enjoy, enjoy, enjoy! So nice that you are going to be enjoying it when it's Jon's birthday!

We'll need loads of photos and a report of the food, of course. :D

Oh you know I can't resist posting photos :D We're hoping to have a chance to book the Chef's Dinner once we board - we enjoyed it so much on the last cruise, I'm sure we'd enjoy the experience on NCL as well. Since the price of the cruise was so low and the beverage package was included, we've considered spending the extra $119/person for the dining package as well (allowing us to enjoy the add'l fee-based restaurants as much as we want) - but we've hesitated because we typically enjoy the food in the Main Dining Rooms (and we'd be losing a night to the Chef's Dinner, so might not make sense financially). Luckily, we can add that up to two nights into the cruise, so we have some time to decide.

I do have a question for you about the spa...didn't you tell me this is the same spa that operates at the Swan/Dolphin in Disney? Mandara, is it? I recall they seemed LOVELY when we were looking into spa treatments while planning one of our Disney trips...

Either way, I'm SO looking forward to relaxing...I've already starting stockpiling books!

Mandara, mandala? I can never keep the name straight. Yes, though. They are one in the same. My first spa indulgence was onboard an NCL. Divine!

Hey Becca, again congratulations on the booking. Where did you ever find that price? I get an almost daily offer from CCL and RCL and they are no where near that price. Is that with some special code? Sharezies???

We saw the offer in an email from Travelocity, but we actually made the purchase through Costco travel because it saved us a bit more (Sam's or BJ's was offering the same price, if I recall, we've just used Costco before and were pleased). Ultimately though it was just a total stroke of luck, as since the day after we purchased prices almost doubled (even with Costco)!

I guess it was meant to be ;)

CANNOT. WAIT. We purchased airfare a couple of weeks ago, so now all that's left to do is pack!

'skip, you might try these two sites cruisecompete.com and vacationstogo.com - a lot of our "cruising friends" swear by them!

Wow!!! That's an unbelievable deal!!! We have been considering a cruise (but one where we are allowed to eat on our own as we are so anti-social ;) ) and at that price we would snap it up! But we would have a bit of a journey from here to actually get there :)

Deb, check and see if Norwegian sails out of any port in the UK.

Love, love, love having the "freestyle cruising" and being able to choose our own dining time, and whether we eat alone or with others. We spent the weekend perusing the drink menus...

:bounce: :bounce: We leave next Friday!!!

    Packing, packing, packing...

Jon is getting OVER a cold, and I appear to be coming down with it. I've now taken one of EVERYTHING in our medicine cabinet. I WILL NOT BE SICK, I WILL NOT BE SICK, I WILL NOT BE SICK.

What's your best "cold avoidance" advice?
