Right, so we had our 2016 trip all figured out. Three weeks in WDW with a cruise at the beginning. Then we started pondering.

The last few tomes we've been, we've had free dining, and we're getting a bit bored of it so are exploring other options.

One of those is getting an AP. However, it would kill me to have an AP and only use it once during the year. So we were considering our three weeks in 2016 as planned - but staying at a less expensive hotel, or somewhere more expensive with an AP discount. But then, instead of the cruise, we were thinking of trying to get another trip in during half term October 2015. With the money we were considering spending on the cruise, we think it's doable.

What do you think? Stick to the original plan, possibly stay in a 1 bed DVC villa, and have the cruise? Or try for two trips, staying at cheaper hotels?

Any opinions would be gratefully received!

Would it be 1 week in October?

Yes. We break up on a Thursday so would fly on the Friday, returning the following weekend.

I would have said to have the two trips, but will it be too much for the children and they'll be too tired when you get home.

Could you go in 2016 as you planned and maybe go for Easter in 2017  You'd still get two visits from the AP.

I think they'll be OK to be honest. When we came home last summer we came back on the Saturday and started school on Monday - they were fine. I've always been put off easter due to the crowds. It seems to be a really busy time. Also, with October there's MNSSHP and food and wine, which we've never done.
I think if we did do October we'd take it pretty gently, as we'd know we were back a few months later anyway.

kids are more resilient than us. Personally i don't think i would want to go all that way for just a week, going for 12 days after having previously been for 20 felt a little weird.

I must admit we did the same thing in 2012/13 we went the end of September in 2012 and the end of August 2013. The tickets are a silly amount of money now and it certainly makes the 2nd holiday a whole lot cheaper.

We plan on doing a similar thing next year (hopefully :fingers: )

I know, I was just saying that we'd done the same thing

October half term will be very busy because of the F&WF and MNSSHP. We've left on the 15th October and the crowds are getting larger. Having said that though we've never been in the summer holidays as we avoid them, so you might think they are ok.

I'd really be interested in knowing how it compares to the summer in terms of crowds, if anyone has done it.

We've never been in summer holidays but have been in October. It will probably be noticeably quieter than August for you. I have heard though it's no longer as quiet as it used to be :) sorry not much help

The weather is lovely in October, there is hardly any humidity and there aren't many rain showers. It's not has hot as August, we really like it.
