I was thinking that we've tried pretty much every resort now EXCEPT the boardwalk. I like the look of it though and the thought of being so close to stuff happening.

Has anyone stayed there, how was it?

We've stayed there once and enjoyed it. I'd like to stay again though.

One of the few we really don't care for. The staff are a bit off... not unfriendly, but not Disney friendly, either. No restaurant attached to the resort, and although there are the choices on the boardwalk, it's not quite the same. Do not like the pool area at all, but everyone knows that already. Don't like the miles long corridors, and the time we were facing and directly over the boardwalk the noise disturbed our sleep (keeping in mind that I wake when a leaf falls off a tree). The parking lot seems acres away, but many do, so that's not unusual.

It IS handy to the IG, and the boardwalk itself is nice. It's a nice walk around that circle, but unless you are thrilled a pedaling uphill, give the surreys a miss! LOL. We did it one time and nearly croaked. :D The ferry is nice to have, but so is the ability to walk to DHS.

I agree with Tink about no restaurant in the Boardwalk. I know it's not far to the Boardwalk Bakery but I really like to get out of bed and just pop downstairs for a croissant or round to the Marketplace at the BC for something hot. I've done the surrey bikes a few times and even got off ours once and helped push somebody else up one of the inclines. I've given them a miss the last couple of times though, the excuse being that I would just be going too fast for the rest of them

 Love it Piglet! Surrey bikes are best at SSR and OKW. And any other flat resort where they are available.

Every now and again we park there and walk around, I love the little acts they have and that sense of things happening.

Oh yes. We do like visiting the boardwalk itself, just not fans of the Boardwalk Inn/Villas. The little live acts, and the energy in the evening is fun, and nice, isn't it?

We love The Boardwalk for the location. Can walk/boat to both Epcot and DHS. If you have a annual pass or hopper you can walk through Epcot to hop on the monorail to MK. The only time you would need a bus is for AK. The rooms are nice, the main pool is loud (opt for closer to the quiet pool) and the food options are decent and plentiful. It's a quick walk to Yacht/Beach Club and Swan/Dolphin for additional options.

In a word Keith, Awesome.....it was truly awesome, especially around the holidays. It is beautiful, plenty of choices to eat nearby with the other resorts in walking distance.

Are there any hints/tips for the best rooms to try and book at the boardwalk? I'm personally not worried about noise FROM the boardwalk, I kinda think that's part of the excitement :) I feel like I should book a "water view" because I'd definitely prefer to be looking out across the boardwalk than the other side but I've read that sometimes the water view can be completely obstructed by trees anyway :/

We won't be staying there long, just a few days to get a feel for it and some late nights at EPCOT

Be sure you say LAGOON view, else you'll be overlooking the canal or a pool.

Oh, if you are doing it online, I'll bet it's not. In that case, I'd go for a room overlooking the boardwalk proper. By default, you'll have a water view. Also, request a top floor. Although, any room overlooking the boardwalk proper will be on a higher floor. Not sure how trees could block the view as the first/ground floor is all shops and restaurants.
