I was listening to the Dis Unplugged podcast and they were discussing Disney artwork.

They mentioned it's possible to go into the parks and a Disney artist will sketch your favourite character for you and even customise the pose. I think this sounds really interesting and would like to get one of these.

Has anyone got one? How much did it cost? Could you post a pic?

Where are the artists based? I can't recall seeing any while touring the parks.

Not sure if you can customise the pose of the character or not. However there is a Disney artist sits in a shop on your right hand side of Main Street in MK. Can't recall the name of the shop but it has prints/artwork for sale.
Another is at Downtown Disney in The Art of Disney.

They are indeed through the parks and at downtown disney. I've personally used the one at hollywood studios at the back of brown derby by the animation tour.

They sit there and draw characters which you can then buy but if you ask them to draw your special character they will and will do a special change or two if you like. Really amazing how quickly they sketch and how great the sketches are

We got Sorceror Mickey done at the Art of Disney at DTD. I'm trying to remember how much it cost us, for some reason $65 is ringing a bell as we had a 2 character sketch done (the broomstick :D ). It's a bit less for a single character and a lot more for the whole seven dwarves.

Right, so if I head to the Art of Disney at Downtown Disney, and ask for some sketches, they won't look at me like I'm nuts?

... Even if I'm wearing my Minnie Dress?!

There's a big display at the DTD store with all the sketches and there'll most times be an artist already sat there taking commissions. You won't be looked at like you're mad. :D

We have had three done - 1 w/ Mickey to commemorate our day being chosen as Grand Marshal's of the MK parade, and two Ariel one's for Baleigh and her best friend (one in red, one in turquoise). We had all of them done in EPCOT - and have become very fond of one of the artists of there named Eddie. There are guidelines on which characters they can do (there's a binder you can look through if you're looking for something specific), but you do have free choice on color and what not. Our Mickey (single character) was $35 and our Prince Eric and Ariel (two characters) was $65.

One tip: Don't want until your last day there to purchase :) If they are super busy, you won't be able to pick it up right away.
