Do you prefer to stay onsite for the disney magic or offsite in a relaxing villa :)

Seeing as we own a villa "over there", obviously we tend to use it as a base.
Whenever we visit though, we can never resist getting our Disney "fix" by spending some time at our favourite resort the GF, usually funded by our DVC points.
You really can`t beat being on-site in order to absorb all of the magic of Disney.
We also like to venture further afield such as taking a DCL cruise or visiting the Keys for example.

We've stayed onsite once, but I much prefer staying at a villa. I find it so much more relaxing.

Villa for us again. This year was the first time we'd used a villa and we loved the freedom and flexibility of it.

On-site, definitely. DH likes to have 2 weeks of not driving. :)

    Villa for us next time.

I hate to say this without sounding snobbish but there's parts of the area I won't stay in now because it is becoming like a Little Britain. Certain hotels on I Drive for example.

If we do a hotel again it will be onsite or one of those Disney affiliated at Downtown Disney.

Dawn you are so right, some areas have changed so much and not for the better :sigh; It's embarrassing at times, you only have to look at some people and you think "oh dear they are British"

This is your first time in a villa isn't it  You will love it, your own pool, you can sit beside it in the morning or at night in your PJs, it's just lovely.

On site for me. But I have limited vacation time--usually 10 to 12 nights.

If it were a longer period--perhaps the three weeks many of our members have--I probably would do a split stay. Part on site and part in an off site villa.

Yike Taja, that is limited...five nights is the most we have ever stayed at one time.

For us, part of the joy is staying on site. There are such nice places to stay and since we are staying only a few nights, we want the full immersion.

Now on where to stay next...for some reason, my DW thought the "kitchy" approach would be to stay at the CR.

I like the Boardwalk (stayed there once), maybe the YC.

I have more vacation time, Dan, but I can't get away for much more than two weeks at a time. By the time you add a travel day on either side, we're gone 13 to 14 days most trips to WDW. And to be honest, after 10 to 12 nights in a resort, I'm ready for a kitchen and the joy of cooking! Even though I'm not fond of cooking and usually resent the time it takes!

I'm not sure if i voted right. we stay onsite but in a villa (we're DVC members). But even before we joined DVC we always stayed onsite. I can't imagine a trip to WDW & not staying there.

WE stay in all kinds of places. If the price is right, we'll stay on-site. We do love the space of a condo so often stay there as well.

A villa, we've stayed on-site ad off-site and there are pro's & con's to both but as our next trip is a three week adventure we are again going for the home comforts of a villa. We'll probably try a different location though, just to mix things up a bit!

i like both and find it hard to decide! I like the relaxing side of the villa, the space and the private pool but i like the disney magic too. In 2010 we will go with whatever is the best value, with 4 adults to feed now if free dining is offered in one of the dvc resorts we'll go for that, if not we'll go for a villa. I will however stay at a universal resort for 1/2 nights to get FOTL access.

We are staying at LBV resort and spa next Nov ,there are 5 of us so Disney hotels within our price range just do not exist! We need a bit more room than a hotel room -did the Comfort Inn Family suite last year and its was fantastic but this place was even cheaper!!

We split our stay between on and off site.

Next year we are staying on I-Drive for 8 nights then RPR for 2 and Disney onsite for the last 10 nights.

Get the best of everything and i don't have to drive :D

Onsite for us for the Disney magic and convenience of getting to and from the parks. Although will say we find GF a little too stuffy, sorry.

I`ve lost count of the number of times that I`ve heard that Team Harris.

We`ve stayed at the GF oodles of times and first impressions can be very misleading. You soon get to realise that it`s not "stuffy" at all and many [if not all] of the CM`s there bend over backwards to make sure that you have a great stay there.
If you want great service, a nice location and probably the best of the on site restaurants to choose from, then the GF can`t be beat IMHO.
