Although we don't really love epcot we do often stroll round but never seem to try any of the restaurants in the different countries. Does anyone have any recommendations? has anyone actually tried them all?? that'd be cool

So far we have only had dinner in 3 of the Epcot restaurants....Coral Reef, the Rose & Crown and the Bistro de Paris[which has now had a name change!....and I can never remember the new name ]
Of those 3, the latter is by far our favourite, and if you get a window seat, you will have a pretty good view of Illuminations. They will also allow you to go outside to view the show and then return to finish your dinner.

    Soooo many options! :)

There are many many nice restaurants but my all time favourite Epcot restaurant has got to be le cellier.

Well EPCOT is probably my favourite park but I must admit I haven't really tried many restaurants.

We often have a meal at the 9 dragons which is an ok chinese although not brilliant. Le cellier does a nice steak albeit pricy for what it is. Rose and Crown is ok although we've not really been back seeing as we can have a pub meal back at home anyway  and bistro de paris.

I'd kinda like to try mexico, coral reef and the garden grill

Oops, I forgot about this one.
Yep, we have also had dinner there although it was a few years ago.
I hear that things have really gone downhill at that place nowadays, mainly due to the dining plans etc.:sorry:

actually a couple of weeks ago we tried le cellier again. I don't really know how to review it though :/ ups and downs.

On the down side, a lot of people said their food was too salty, wrong, etc and nothing was really done just "oh Im sorry to hear you didnt like it". It's very expensive for park food and there's quite a lot of feeling rushed.

On the up side, I had a really nice steak... on the downside it wasn't actually the steak I ordered

I have to agree. Although I don't mind paying the price as it's very nice food.

I did feel rushed in September as they were waiting for tables. That was a bit sad given i'd booked it as far in advance as I was allowed to.

    yeah !

I ordered a sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce, they actually brought a filet with white truffle butter sauce which I'd never have ordered but actually was delicious. Kinda hard to complain when they brought the wrong thing but it was probably better than what I ordered

So yep I must admit, I was impressed with the food this time around

yeah me too. Given the price, they need to back off and let people enjoy their meals

Goes back to the point from the other day regarding couples.

Wherever we ate at Disney (and also off property) I did feel we were always rushed.

Now if we go back as a group I wonder if that would be any different?

    It's a shame really.

interesting question that! I Don't know the answer but would be an interesting test

Certainly there's the whole thing about a table for eight not being that much more work than a table for two but earning a lot more tips

Great question! I've not done them ALL (of course now that's a challenge!) but I have done:

    Biergarten (Germany)
    Chefs de France (France)
La Hacienda de San Angel (Mexico)
    Le Cellier Steakhouse (Canada)
Princess Storybook Dining at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall (Norway)
Rose and Crown Pub and Dining Room (United Kingdom)
    San Angel Inn (Mexico)
    Teppan Edo (Japan)
    Tokyo Dining (Japan)

Of those, my favorites are Le Cellier, Biergarten and either of the restaurants in Japan. Given the price and option changes in the past few years at Le Cell, I've taken to booking at an "off" time and just going for wine, soup and bread. I confess I adore the atmosphere there and refuse to give that up, but if it's a steak I'm after - there are far better places onsite and off. Biergarten is just fun, IMO. The food is plentiful and diverse enough to meet different tastes and, again, I love the atmosphere.

Of the one's I've not been to, but would like to try - the restaurant in Morocco and the new one in Italy top the list.

I like Mexican food and I agree you can't beat the surroundings, but I really disliked it here. It was either way too spicy or very bland, and I know its dark, but it didn't look appertising either. A bit disappointing.

La Cava del Tequila is in Mexico, Keith. They have some very lovely margaritas there (and also tequila flights if you're brave enough :) )

I enjoy their chips and salsa as well. I haven't been there in a trip or two though, as Jon isn't a huge tequila fan (though he has agreed to the tequila tasting lunch during the F&W Festival).

We enjoyed a very nice meal at San Angel Inn during our Christmas trip in 2011. We'd been put off trying it for years because we'd read so many poor reviews, but decided to give it a go for something new and quite enjoyed it. To be sure, maybe not the best meal I've ever had on property, but I didn't feel I'd wasted my time. Of course, it didn't hurt that we were sat right by the railing and could watch the boats float by and enjoy the "ambiance" :)

Keith, maybe you could try it just for some drinks and tapas and see what you think?

Isnt that always the way? Go to somewhere with high hopes and it disappoints but try somewhere just to try something new and it turns out to be great!

I'll definitely have to try it

I've never tried tequila so perhaps i'll give that a go too :D

Of course I'd be happy to accompany you as your "Tequila Tutor" but that would mean you'd actually have to agree to meet me
