We're going to buy a pair of US cell phones to use in the parks. I was just wondering if any particular providers are better than others to use at WDW.

Ive been through *ALL* of them and every time I try a new one, Tink says "Verizon" and I try another one and she reminds me "Verizon"

So, in my experience, Verizon is indeed the best in Orlando. It seems to work well and fast all over. I found it the hardest in terms of getting a decent phone but if youre gonna buy a pair of cell phones anyway no problem.

at&t a notch down but still good

tmobile I found a lot of areas of poor coverage

It will literally for us just to text each other when we've split up for a bit (so Anthony can take Ben on the bigger rides ;))

Disney does have free wifi now and tbh I've found it getting better each time I've been but yeah still nice to have proper cell coverage

We'll maybe use the WiFi on our iPad in the room, but I don't think we'll be using it in the parks. Am intending on getting the cheapest phone possible, so they probably won't even have internet access :D

You should try AT&T, I always buy a Red Pocket sim card and they use AT&T. I've never had any problems with texts, calls or wifi.

If you have phones you can take with you and they are unlocked or you can pick up a couple of unlocked phones from ebay, I can send you a couple of sim cards, all you need to do is activate them on line and it will cost $19.99 plus tax and that's for 250 mins and 500 texts.

Thanks Wendy, but we go on Tuesday so that might be cutting it a bit fine :)

What do you mean they're partnering with AT&T?

Also, I don't really want to use my own phone, I like it too much and wouldn't want to break it :D

They've announced that they'll be installing what they're calling "small cell towers" which I'd call micro-towers, in disneyworld parks and resorts. Basically they're less powerful, smaller towers which are designed to give very good coverage to smaller areas. So you can take a bunch of them and make sure that they precisely cover the areas you need and any blackspots can be targeted very exactly.

So inside Disney, at&t reception should be really great

Sorry about that, I haven't been on much this week because Chris has had a week off, if only I'd seen it sooner :sigh:

Looking at Walmart, you should be able to pick something up for about $40 with a small credit.

We've had a look on the Walmart website and there seems to be a few options. Whilst we're in Canada we're actually going to america for the day to see friends, so will stop by a Walmart on the way there I think.
