I mean I dont NEED to stay at one of the suggested hotels, it's just they negotiate special rates and do events + shuttles to the conferences from there

Well in USA they do things better so it will probably be good.

Hilton's here are GENERALLY ok hotels. They are lower mid range, depending upon the type of Hilton, with Hilton Garden Inn being the lowest of their mid range.

It will depend upon what you want. Often (but not always) we go with Hampton Inn and Suites because the rooms are larger, there is a microwave and small refrigerator in the room, and there is free wifi that is usually quite decent.

I can tell you this, of your above choices the Ritz Carlton and the JW Marriott are FABULOUS. I've stayed at the JW Marriott and it's really all about luxury and service. However, the location is "out there" with nothing really around it to walk to, etc.

In the listing of walking distance, I'd check out Hyatt Regency. It may be nicer, and offer you more than the Hilton.

I haven't stayed in a Hilton in quite some time, but everyone I've ever stayed in has been fine.

We stayed at the Hilton near to DTD several years ago and I really could not fault it...although it was several years ago mind!
The Hyatt Regency is a great hotel, although we`ve only been there for dinner...and again this was a while back.
Not much use on this am I ? :rolleyes3:

We are Hilton Honors members so stay in them a bit. They are generally pretty good. Solid is the way I would put it, nothing elaborate but generally pretty good.

I've stayed at a few Hiltons in the US and they're not bad at all. I sometimes think of them as standard hotels, with granite countertops.

I quite like the Hampton Inns, too.

Len Testa raves about the Hilton DTD.
