    and why?

    a) Arrive to MK before rope drop and watch the show (I have no idea what the show is about)

    b) Make an ADR inside MK BEFORE park opening, and be inside the park before anyone else

I'd make the ADR as I think it would great to be inside the park when there aren't many people around :)

Without question I'd book the ADR to be inside the park before opening. There is something absolutely magical about being there first thing in the morning when everything is shiny and clean :)

    Oh...to add to the "why"...

While the "show" is cute and fun, once it's over and the rope has dropped, well, you're sort of just stuck in this massive cattle call of people trying to push their way through the turnstiles...not incredibly magical...

I'd much rather book an ADR, enjoy a stroll through the park unencumbered, and then wander back out into the park afterwards.

    Just my thoughts :)

    Def the adr.
We did the steam train tour and there is something about being in and seeing the park so empty and calm.

Also when we stayed at the disney hotel at disneyland paris we could see the crowds arriving from our room. Its quite magical seeing the preparations first thing in the morning and also seeing the magic come alive. :D

ADR. Walking down Main Street when it is practically empty is wonderful.

    Rope drop is too congested.

Having done several things that got us in the park early, definitely the ADR.

I've done the rope drop in the old days when you could walk down Main Street and then we would stop on the bridge to Adventureland at the rope. I much preferred it that way :sigh:

I don't know, I'm never at the parks that early anymore

The time I'm talking about is before they had the show in the morning and everyone was allowed into Main Street and you could go into the shops and wander down to the rope. When the rope was moved to the side, people used to run off trying to get to Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain. I'm talking about 20 years ago

They don't let you in the actual park now, Johnie. It used to be you could go in and mill about but not get "beyond the ropes" for the different lands. Hence, "rope drop."

I've done it both ways. The little shows are neat, but nothing to force yourselves to see. The Great Awakening at AK used to be really neat, but they've changed that up a bit.

At MK, the players come out and do a little welcoming scene, and then the singing group come out and sing... just a bit of entertainment to kick off the opening. Mickey shows up, too.

I've not seen it since Gay Day three years ago now, that I think about it! That's a fun one to be at! :D :D :D LOVE the enthusiasm of the guests and the joining in of the singing AND dancing!
