It is foul in December generally. The greyness is the worst bit.
To be honest if you are doing a flying trip this way in December I'd go for somewhere in Germany that has a Christmas market - somewhere like Munich maybe.
OOOHHH good to know. Cheers for that.
I won't make the beds up just yet then!
Well I wouldn't go from here to Europe for 5 days - cos it takes me over a day to get there. :shocked025:
But a comparable distance for 5 days - yep, and I desperately want to go back to Europe, so if I only had to go as far as you do - I'd go for it.
I love Dawn's Christmas market suggestion - Germany would be gorgeous! I'd go as your translator but it's a little far for 5 days as I said.
Sorry! I've been tinkering with a long weekend in Dec.....and taking my mom for her Christmas present. She really wanted to see the Christmas lights/decorations at Disney but we had to cancel the Thanksgiving trip b/c her brother had a stroke. So, I've got all of these plans on my mind.....
You and me both, sister...you and me both
OOOOH...well then...I'll definitely keep that in mind for the loooooooooooooooong trip then
It's a plan!
At your age, if expense wasn't a consideration, I'd probably go to Europe. Although, as Dawn suggested, possibly Germany rather than UK.
At this point in my life, the five-hour flight to the east coast added to the eight- or nine-hour flight to Europe...no way, no how! And I would freeze to death! I don't own clothing suitable for temperatures much below 60 degrees!
WDW in December probably would get my vote for a short trip, though. It's gorgeous. The weather is variable, but usually nice. And as Johnie said, no jet lag for you!
have passport, will travel...
Just take me to a pub and Ill stay there for 5 days...
I would fly into Shannon, or Galway and do one place for the five days. The flying in is where the jet lag will get you. The first day is horrid, but if you manage it (DO NOT sleep until at least the early evening of the first day) you can get by ok. The return is a cinch. You wake early and feel refreshed.
The key would be to visit one place, and not try to do too much in those five beautiful, glorious days.
And the weather is always rubbish in Ireland and the UK so December wouldn't faze me a bit.
You have to consider that in the UK as soon as there is one snowflake we seem to fall apart and all our roads and airports close.... you may get stranded here..... your few days could turn into weeks. We are rubbish at adverse weather conditions.
I would opt for disney, I like in the UK, it's got some really good things to do... but travelling from America would be a no-no for a five day trip- you'd be exhausted!
Go to the world... then book a 2 week stay in england next year... you can come and say Hi! LOL
But of course! Keep your bags packed at all times and travel, travel, travel.
