Main Street Electrical Parade Extended at Walt Disney World

E-mail Print PDF

Just as many had hoped – Walt Disney World are leaving the lights on and extending Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” at Magic Kingdom. By popular demand, the parade at will continue an open-ended run when Summer Nightastic ends on August 14th.

It’s probably no surprise to hear that the parade has been one of the highest rated entertainment experiences at Magic Kingdom Park since returning in early June. It’s been an “overwhelming success,” according to Park Vice President Phil Holmes. And now, you’ll be able to continue cheering and humming “Baroque Hoedown.”

Of course, new elements of Disney’s “Main Street Electrical Parade” will continue during the encore phase of the run. Those include:

Main Street Electrical Parade at Walt Disney World

  • Tinker Bell leads the eye-filling procession, waving from the basket of a balloon floating gracefully above a magical garden shimmering in fairy light.
  • Pinocchio and the boys from the classic film’s Pleasure Island sequence join the parade, and Snow White joins the Seven Dwarfs on a diamond mine float.
  • There are new lighting effects, and the parade’s highly recognizable musical theme is brightened by new technology.

Star Wars Weekends may have come and gone at light speed, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until next year to add new Star Wars collectibles to your out of this world collections.

Jedi Knight Mickey Mouse

Coming this August, the creative teams at Disney Theme Park Merchandise, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Classics Collection are pleased to release the newest sculpture created especially for Disney Parks, Jedi Mickey Mouse. This striking piece was created with precise detail that is synonymous with Disney, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Classics Collection.

Jedi Mickey Mouse stands 6 ¼” tall and is hand-crafted of kiln-fired porcelain with accents of metallic paint on Mickey’s lightsaber hilt.

Jedi Mickey Mouse won’t be available until the end of August and will retail for $125 plus tax.

Star Wars 'Last Tour to Endor' Party is August 14th

E-mail Print PDF

Got your tickets? If not, better get a move on – the largest private party ever held during a Star Wars Celebration is right around the corner and you’ll want to see what’s now planned for the night. “Last Tour to Endor” will still feature a special Star Wars-themed fireworks show, a “Death Star Disco,” live entertainment and Disney Characters. But we’ve learned more about a special edition of Hyperspace Hoopla.

Darth Vader

Yes, Star Wars characters (like Darth Vader) will be stepping out of their galaxy to dance just like they do during the Star Wars Events at WDW

-”Grease is the word” that Chewie heard: Chewbacca, Han Solo and the Jawas put on their dancing shoes (except Chewbacca of course, who will be frantically moving his furry feet) and perform a tune from the 1978 hit movie-musical “Grease.” In fact, Rebel spies have provided initial intel that Chewbacca’s fur will be fashioned into a 1950’s pompadour hairstyle just for the occasion.

-“Nobody puts Leia in a corner”: Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia will go back to the 1980s with a dance number from the box-office hit “Dirty Dancing.”

-“Strike a pose, there’s nothing to it”: Some of the most famous females from the Star Wars saga — including Queen Amidala, Ahsoka Tano, Zam Wessel and Aurra Sing — will join forces for an ensemble dance number set to one of the biggest pop hits by the “material girl” herself, Madonna.

-King of Pop, or King of the Dark Side?: Returning by popular demand will be Darth Vader and his crew of dancing stormtroopers, cutting a rug (and no, not cutting it with a light saber) to a hit medley from the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. At previous “Hyperspace Hooplas,” the Dark Lord has been known to even don a single, sequined glove as he channels the iconic music superstar.

Of course, event activities are subject to change without notice.

The party begins at 8 p.m. but “Last Tour to Endor” ticket holders can get a head-start on the fun at Disney’s Hollywood Studios as early as 4 p.m. Also being offered are free round-trip shuttles to the event from the Orange County Convention Center for all attendees.

Tickets for the August 14, 2010 event are $75 in advance and $89 at the gate (if available). Order online HERE

Donald Duck at Epcot & new Via Napoli restaurant

For a few months work has been in progress at the Mexico Pavilion to create a permanent meet and greet location for Donald Duck. This week the area was opened for guests to meet him. Also this week some of the construction walls hiding the building work for the new Via Napoli Ristorante Pizzeria restaurant at the Italy pavilion were taken down. There is still work to do on the building but the restaurant is still scheduled to open next month.
