The former Busch Gardens’ Nairobi Field Station now allows greater interaction between guests and the park’s animal ambassadors. The new area is called Jambo Junction, a name inspired by a Swahili greeting. At Jambo Junction, you can participate in animal feedings, lessons in husbandry and behaviour training. Featured animals include Caribbean flamingos, lemurs, cuscuses, sloths and opossums.

Busch staffers are busy training about 30 animals to get used to hanging around and being handled by humans.

Half the animals come from captive breeding programs. The rest come from animal rescue shelters, often after a family that wanted an unusual pet learned they adopted a wild animal.
