Dolphin Swim Experience
Make a friend that will live in your heart forever when you experience the highlight of your day, a one-on-one dolphin encounter. Learn about dolphin behaviour and communication. Wade into the dolphin lagoon. Come nose to bottlenose with one of these fascinating and intelligent animals, take hold of its dorsal fin and hold on for the ride of a lifetime.
This "ultimate dolphin experience" starts with a brief orientation through an informative video and trainer talk. Guests learn about dolphin characteristics and how trainers use hand signals and positive reinforcement to communicate with these amazing animals. You will also be given various safety guidelines. Discovery Cove is home to about 35 dolphins.
The highlight of a visit to Discovery Cove is the opportunity to swim with a bottlenose dolphin during a 30-minute interactive adventure. Accompanied by a trainer, groups of six to eight guests wade into shallow water and become acquainted with their dolphin who will make an entrance by zipping from their holding pen and leaping into the air in greeting before splitting off to head to their respective human pods. Many hugs, kisses and rubdowns later, you take the adventure one step further, guests interact with their dolphin in deeper water for an exciting dorsal fin tow ride back to shore. Place an arm over the dolphin’s back and cup your other hand over a flipper and get towed back to the shallows. Then you will pose with your new-found friend for the still and video photographers who have been carefully documenting the entire dolphin interaction.
You may even get to swim with Capricorn, an aging movie star of sorts who is 36 and has appeared in jaws 3.
