Tips

  1. If you are planning on visiting Discovery Cove during the summer or near a holiday, you should book your reservation at least one month prior to your intended visit to ensure availability as these timeframes tend to book early. No matter when you want to go, you must make a reservation.
  2. Discovery Cove provides all guests with swim vests and/or wetsuits, a mask and snorkel, towels and beach chairs. Discovery Cove will also provide guests with a sample of specially formulated sunscreen that is safe for use in the animal habitats.
  3. Guests should bring their own swimsuits, and, if they choose, water socks or rubber pool shoes, hat, sunglasses and cover-up or dry clothes.
  4. Discovery Cove guests may not wear jewelry, for the safety of the animals.
  5. Don't put any sunscreen on before you visit as the price includes Discovery Cove's own "fish friendly" sun protection, the only sunscreen allowed.
  6. You don't need to be an expert swimmer for the Dolphin swim experience. You will be given a flotation jacket, which must be worn at all times while you are in the pool.
  7. The Dolphin Lagoon is cooler than the rest of them, so a wet suit will be provided if you feel too cold.
  8. There's a lot to do at Discovery Cove, so make sure to set aside an entire day to fully enjoy the experience. Like with any park, it's always best to arrive early.
  9. Consider visiting the park during the off-season. Attendance is always limited to only 1,000 guests per day, but if you visit during the off-season, there may be even fewer people.
  10. If you want to enjoy Discovery Cove on a tighter budget, you have some options. The park offers some early booking discounts, and a non-dolphin package that allows you to enjoy all the park has to offer, minus the dolphin swim.
