Walt Disney World Resort in Florida is the largest and most visited resort in the world. Four theme parks, two water parks, themed hotels, and numerous dining, shopping, entertainment and recreation venues make it a great holiday location for all ages. It is located in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, a tourist area southwest of Orlando, Florida. The property is often abbreviated to Disney World or WDW.

WDW opened on October 1, 1971, with the Magic Kingdom theme park, and has since added Epcot (on October 1, 1982), Disney's Hollywood Studios (on May 1, 1989), and Disney's Animal Kingdom (on April 22, 1998). However, the story is not complete as thanks to Walt Disney’s vision, there is enough land to build more exciting family experiences in the future.

The Walt Disney World Resort is always evolving. They maintain classic attractions for the guests who remember them when the park opened in 1971, and they add new ones for the next generation to visit.

Baby Elephant Takes First Steps On Kilimanjaro Safaris Savannah

Introduction to the Kilimanjaro Safaris savannah has started for the new baby elephant, Luna, born May 20. The introduction is part of a carefully developed plan by Disney’s Animal Programs animal care experts that included bonding time for Luna and her mom, introductions to other members of the Disney’s Animal Kingdom elephant herd, and even a swim test to prepare Luna for the ponds on the savannah.

During her introduction to the Kilimanjaro Safaris savannah, Luna and her mom will spend part of the day on most days in an area of the savannah with their elephant family group—where Guests riding the safari may get a glimpse–and part of the day in their backstage home. Included in the family group are Luna’s mom, Donna; adult females, Vasha and Rafiki; and young females, Nadirah (Donna’s first calf) and Kianga (Vasha’s calf).

Because top priority is excellent care for Luna, during the introduction period, her time out on the savannah may be limited and vary from day to day. Of course, the Kilimanjaro Safaris is always a fantastic adventure because each safari provides a different experience and wildlife viewing is always great!
