This absolutely brilliant classic Disney ride takes guests inside a haunted mansion with 999 ghosts who would very much like you to be the 1000th!
The queue takes you past tombstones each of which has a little back story to it:-
- Rest in peace, brother Huet. We all know you didn't do it.
- R.I.P., good friend Gordon. Now you've crossed the river Jordan.
- Master Gracey laid to rest. No mourning, please, at his request. Farewell.
- At peaceful rest, he's brother Claude. Planted here beneath this sod.
- Here lies good ol' Fred. A great big rock fell on his head.
- Here rests Lawful R. Bender. He rode to glory on a fender.
- Dear departed brother Dave, He chased a bear into a cave.
- Here lies a man named Martin. The lights went out on this old Spartan.
Once inside, guests are called "bodies" and are told to drag their wretched bodies to the dead centre of the room. The room then seems to stretch (it's actually a very clever lift taking guests down to the actual ride).
The ride vehicles are called Doom Buggies and fit two adults comfortably possibly with a child in between. Speakers at the back of the bugger narrate the ride as you go through it with a ghostly tone (Legendary voice artist Paul Frees -- known to many as Boris Badenov from “The Bullwinkle Show” -- is the attraction’s narrator, or “ghost host.”)
There are many hidden mickeys in the mansion to look out for on this ride including some unofficial ones put there by the cast members who run the ride.
At the end, a hitchiking ghost is said to follow you home.
