Originally designed by Walt Disney himself for the Pepsi-Cola corp at the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. The attraction then went to Disneyland CA and proved to be very popular. It was one of the original Disney world attractions when Magic Kingdom open on October 1st, 1971.
The attraction is all about how similar we all are and features children of the world in a charming gentle inside boat ride. You are surrounded by dancing dolls, animals and all sorts of flowers singing the song that some love, some hate, "it's a small world afterall"
"It's a world of laughter, a world of tears;
It's a world of hopes and a world of fears;
There's so much that we share,
That it's time we're aware
It's a small world after all!"
The recently refurbished and completely redone ride features a nearly 1100 foot long canal, 290 new style audio animatronics, 147 toys and 36 animated props each with clothing themed appropriately to the country the scene is featuring.
Each boat holds 20 people and is a continuous loading ride. There is nothing scary at all but it does tend to be a love it or hate it affair! Small children almost universally delight in the colourful nature of the ride, older children and adults tend to be less pleased but nevertheless, it's a Disney classic!
