One of the author's favourite rides especially during an evening Extra Magic Hours, this ride looks brilliant in the dark.
The Jungle Cruise takes you on a river cruise past Audio-Animatronic Animals and ruins. The real stars of this ride are the boat captains who are encouraged to make the ride their own! Each captain has their own corny jokes and presentation.
The boat passes underneath a waterfall and some passengers may get a bit wet (we're not talking splash mountain wet ;-)
This ride opened in 1971 and was in fact a serious educational style ride at that time. The captains themselves began to add jokes and funny stories which has worked so well over time that even today, captains themselves learn only a skeleton script and are encouraged to work out their own gags. The boats themselves have a top speed of 3.2 feet per second and are powered by a 4cylinder Chevvy engine.
