    Do you love/hate character dining?

    Do you have a favourite?

Any character dining places you go to purely for the food and not the character photo opportunities?

I like it - if the food is good. Tusker House, for example. Yummy food and a good meeting and greet experience. We also enjoyed Garden Grill. I think it's a good way to get photos.

It really puts us off ;( as a couple without kids, we feel pretty awkward when all the kids are screaming to see the characters and they're at our table. It interrupts the meal and is generally a pain. We'd really really like there to be a system like a card we could put on the table to say "just ignore us". Then we could enjoy seeing everyone else having fun but without feeling awkward ourselves

I really have a soft spot for the crystal palace since I went there on the first ever trip and it's just yah know, special and less messy than chef mickeys but we dont go back any more because of the characters

I remember the time when some of the characters went into the GF Café at breakfast.
This was knocked on the head apparently because Tigger`s tail occasionally swished food off some of the tables by accident!
We enjoyed the character meals when we first went to WDW but now, like Keith, we can take it or leave it.

I'm pretty sure that if you told the host or hostess that you'd rather watch the character's then meet them they would have them wave as they went past your table.

The only character meal I would ever do is Crystal Palace, but we haven't done it for a while.

When we didn't want to be bothered by them we would just wave when we saw them heading our way and go ahead and continue eating and they would just wave back and keep on moving by us.

When my kids were younger we would go to Chef Mickey ,Crystal Palace and Ohana every trip. It was the best way to get photo ops with the characters. It allowed us to a avoid the lines in the parks to meet the characters. Now a days we don't normally do character meals.

We have done Crystal Palace several times over our trips and really like it (food and interaction. We are big Pooh fans). Last time we went in Jan. 2016 the cat was almost let out of the bag. DD Alex's big surprise was to follow dinner at Wishes (beau was going to propose). Somehow CMs got wind of the event and they had our table decorated with a big congratulations sign, confetti and such. We had to usher Alex away while we worked with CMs to remove the stuff as best we could. They thought it already had happened. We got most of it cleared by she could see that our table looked a lot different than other tables. We said it was for her birthday (it was the following evening). Phew! That was close.

We love the interaction at the Garden Grill. Love Chip and Dale and farmer Mickey! We have done Chef Mickeys (meh it was ok), and Ohanas, and breakfast at Cape May. Last time we also did Princesses at Norway. So yeah guess we do like our character meals. Never thought how much.

Dave loves the food at Tusker House and the characters are usually quite fun but we would go if the characters weren't there too
