What an amazing, relaxing holiday. Good food, good drinks, fun people! We didn't even leave the ship in Cozumel and Belize...but found the natural beauty of Trujillo, Honduras really lovely. It was 84 degrees (F) in our ports of call...we came home to THREE degrees (F). They had to pull me off the ship kicking and screaming :D

I actually left the ship!!! (Those who know my fear of water in general will appreciate this, as we had to drop anchor about 5 miles out and tender in aboard lifeboats.)

    Somewhat sober here.

    Definitely not here.

I didn't leave my chair for more than 5 minutes all day. The sun felt amazing!

    The sunsets were SPECTACULAR!

Name the date, hon!! I'll be your official guide! ;)

Sidenote: we met (and made friends with) the loveliest couple from upstate New York. Mid-way through the week, they invited us to their cabin for dinner. "Their cabin" was the Haven Owner's Suite - 3 BEAUTIFULLY appointed rooms (including a dining room), 3 balconies, and their own BUTLER! It was an amazing evening! I had no idea cruise cabins could be so posh! We joked that the tv in their bathtub was larger than the one in our cabin!

I hear this a lot from people on cruises but I'm just such a scaredy cat and all around shy guy I just dont know if I'd be "that guy who didnt say a word to us ALL through dinner" :/

As a side note, many years ago, I saw a documentary about a set of people who ALWAYS did a new years cruise. Every year, same ship, same line, same cruise. They, mainly, didn't see each other the whole year but every year they met up for that week and had a blast. I just *love* that idea. dunno why but I do :)

Takes someone special to be able to put up with me as a friend though, even for one week a year ;-)

Great photos Becca. So was dinner in this luxurious suite catered by the ship? What did you have for dinner that night?

Funny you should say that, as we didn't meet these folks at dinner! In fact, aside from the night we dined in their cabin, and the night we went to Cagney's (the steakhouse onboard) with them, we dined by ourselves each night. NCL offers "your way dining" which means you can eat when you want and with (or without) who you want. As it turned out, we'd gone down to the martini bar to listen to a James Taylor tribute performer and struck up a conversation with them over a bottle of wine we were drinking. Lovely, lovely couple!

I love that idea!! This couple along with another that we become friendly with have decided we would all love to cruise together again someday!

I dunno, I bet I'm up to the task ;)

It was! We had a choice between pasta and fish - the fish was fantastic. Then we enjoyed a cappuccino from the machine in their room out on forward balcony - the stars were SPECTACULAR.

We had such a lovely evening that night we decided to visit Trujillo together. They graciously invited us to join them for "priority tender" (another perk of their cabin)...where we had a steward escort us to the elevator, lock out the elevator, and then guided us through the crew corridors to the front of the tender line. It was VERY cool!

Ohhh, sounds like the beginnings of a new screenplay, in the same theme as a Love Actually kind of movie!

We can co write it Keith! We actually love meeting new people on the cruises. It is a bit the luck of the draw and it looks like Becca drew aces with her new friends. I posted before that on our first cruise we were paired with 4 other couples ALL celebrating anniversaries. One of the couples was a gay couple, there was one couple about our age at the time, another quite a bit older, and one quite a bit younger. I wonder how many of us are still together. We kept in touch with a few of them for a few years but sort of dropped the ball. We did everything on board the ships together. They all were so alive and wonderful. The only snag came when we went to Key West and our gay friends said best not follow today....going to clothing optional bars. We bowed out gracefully and did a bike tour instead..heh.

Stars? Stars? Now you are talking my language...actually you had me at cappuccino. Man Becca you do have a gift for making a wonderful adventure don't you? The photos were brilliant!

For Sally and me, we love hanging around the adults only pools, so quite and peaceful, and enjoying the special drink of the day...they have a lot of special drinks!

By the way....I would have been so on top of that choice you made...JT fan from way back, have seen him in concert several times and would love to have been there. Was the guy good? Did he just play his songbook or did he actually try to get into character?

Oh Dan...you would have been in awe...utter awe!!! They were so brilliant and bright!!!! I could have stayed out there all night! The balcony had chaise lounges on it, and I joked that I didn't even need the room - I would have been fine to sleep out on the balcony all week!

You and Sally and Jon and I would have been great friends on a cruise...you just described almost every one of our days! Quick story: although we had the drink package, I really worked hard to steer clear of the sugary mixers w/ my alcohol. So I'd typically have one "pretty drink" per day, wine/martinis with dinner, and then the rest of my drinks (by the pool w/ my books) consisted of vodka over ice w/ a lime. Jon opted for Wild Turkey. One afternoon, our beverage server brought us our bar slip to sign, and the bill was $240!!!
    :jawdrop:

hehehe Well I guess you'll just have to start traveling with us from now on, huh? To keep us safe you know...

Honestly, they truly were the nicest people you could have ever hope to meet. And though my "shortened timeline" may make it sound such, it wasn't exactly a "one night stand" We met them one evening (at the show), had drinks (in public places) 3 or 4 times, and THEN they invited us up to their suite for dinner. They'd been on this particular ship a number of times - so many that the staff all knew them. Besides...if I *really* got worried, I would have just called the butler...and if THAT didn't work, well, you should have SEEN this suite Tink and Wen...if I was going to be murdalized...WHAT A WAY TO GO!!!! ;)

STEPHEN!!! I will have you know I'm a LADY!!!! And this was a classy event!

It was a champagne stand ;)
