The WDW Monorail System

 The WDW Monorail System

There are two separate monorail lines running from the Magic Kingdom to the Transport and Ticket Center and from the Transport and Ticket Center to Epcot.

The first line was opened in 1971 and this is the Magic Kingdom Monorail System.  In 1982 a new line was opened which transported guests between the Transport and Ticket Center and Epcot.

  • The first monorail stops at all of the Magic Kingdom resorts and the Transport and Ticket Center.

  • The second monorail is the express monorail which goes straight to the Transport and Ticket Center.

If you’re going from the Transport and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom, get the express monorail. The resort monorail from the Magic Kingdom to the Transport and Ticket Center stops first at the Contemporary, then the Transport and Ticket Center, then the Polynesian, the Grand Floridian, then the Magic Kingdom.

It’s worth noting though, that If you’re leaving the Magic Kingdom for the Transport and Ticket Center and there is a long line for the express monorail, it may be quicker to get the resort monorail if the line isn’t as long.

If you want to get from Magic Kingdom to Epcot, you will need to get the monorail to the Transport and Ticket Center, and then change to the monorail for Epcot.

Sadly, there is no monorail station at the Wilderness Lodge. There is also no monorail service to Disney’s Hollywood Studios or the Animal Kingdom.

Monorails run from 7:00 a.m. until about two hours after Park closing.
