Information
The wilderness lodge was inspired by early American national park lodges. The main feature of the wilderness lodge is an 8 story log-building. The centre piece of the lodge is the main lobby. A huge 82ft tall three-sided stone fireplace is surrounded by wooding rocking chairs. Four large tepee chandeliers hang overhead and two 55ft high totem poles stand at the entrance.
The flooring design was inspired by northwest Indians. A hot spring begins in the lobby and appears to continue outside into a huge waterfall that falls into the swimming area. The resort also features a 120ft geyser that erupts every hour from 7:00am to 10:00pm.
Other services include a boat service to the magic kingdom, special guided tours of the resort, the island animal show, and the opportunity to be the “flag family” (who raises the American flag on the roof of the lodge at 7a.m and gets a photograph and certificate for helping to raise the flag.) One of the best benefits is the front-row seating on the boat dock for the electrical water pageant that crosses the lake nightly.
